Camping near Isle, Minnesota
Isle sits on the southeast shore of Mille Lacs Lake, a walleye destination and one of the largest lakes in Minnesota. The town is a short drive from Father Hennepin State Park, and campgrounds nearby range from state park sites to full-hookup private resorts geared to RV travelers.
Father Hennepin State Park is the anchor public campground for the area. The park has 103 single-family drive-in campsites split between the Lakeview loop, which has 62 sites with 41 offering electric hookups, and the Maple Grove loop, which is non-electric with longer parking spurs and more space between sites. The park also has flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, and a sandy beach on Isle Harbor.
Private options close to town include Fiddlestix RV & Golf Resort, South Isle Family Campground, and Northern Skys RV Resorts Mille Lacs. Soo Line Trail Campground offers access to the Soo Line ATV and snowmobile trail for riders traveling with an RV.
Things to do around Isle
Mille Lacs Lake drives most warm-weather activity. Walleye fishing is the headline draw, with the open-water season running from the Minnesota fishing opener in early May through November 30. The current Mille Lacs regulation allows a three-walleye daily limit at a 17-inch minimum, with only one fish over 20 inches. Smallmouth bass, northern pike, and muskie fishing are also strong on the lake.
The Maple Grove side of Father Hennepin State Park connects to hiking loops through hardwood forest, and the Lakeview area has a swim beach, boat ramp, and playground. Cyclists and ATV riders use the Soo Line Trail, which runs through the region east of the lake.
Families often add a day trip to Mille Lacs Kathio State Park on the west shore for its observation tower and interpretive trails, or a visit to nearby tribal casino properties on rainy days.

The practical RV season around Isle runs from spring thaw through mid-October. Father Hennepin State Park campgrounds are generally open from spring through late fall, with the highest demand tied to the fishing opener in early May, the summer holiday weekends, and fall color in late September.
Summer brings warm days, afternoon thunderstorms, and mosquitoes near wooded and marshy sites. June is typically the wettest month, so travelers should plan for wet awnings and muddy access roads at primitive loops. July and August are the busiest weeks on the lake, with heavy boat traffic and campgrounds often fully booked well in advance.
Winter is long and cold, with sub-zero lows and heavy snowfall. Most private RV parks close by late October, though the lake remains active for ice fishing, and rustic winter camping continues at select state park sites that stay reservable year-round through the Minnesota DNR.
How to book a site near Isle
Father Hennepin State Park and other Minnesota state park campgrounds are reserved through the Minnesota DNR reservation system at mndnr.gov/reservations, operated in partnership with UseDirect. All state park campsites are reservable, and the booking window opens 120 days before the arrival date. Online reservations cannot be made before 8 a.m. Central Time on that first day of availability, and popular sites for holiday weekends and the fishing opener often go within minutes.
A Minnesota state park vehicle permit is required in addition to the campsite reservation and can be added at booking or purchased on arrival. Same-day reservations are available with no reservation fee.
Private campgrounds around Isle, including Fiddlestix RV & Golf Resort, South Isle Family Campground, Northern Skys RV Resorts Mille Lacs, and Soo Line Trail Campground, are booked directly with each operator. Weekend and holiday inventory at these resorts fills well in advance for peak summer.
What to expect on-site
Sites at Father Hennepin State Park accommodate rigs up to about 64 feet in the Lakeview loop, with 41 of 62 sites offering 50-amp electric hookups. Maple Grove is non-electric with longer parking spurs, so travelers plan to run on batteries or a small generator during allowed hours. No sites in the park offer individual water or sewer hookups, but both loops have flush toilets, hot showers, and a shared dump station.
Private resorts near Isle typically offer full water, electric, and sewer hookups, with amenities such as laundry, Wi-Fi, and lake or golf access varying by property.
Expect mixed cell coverage in the area. The town of Isle has a grocery store, laundromat, and bait shops within a short drive of the state park entrance. Bugs peak from late May through July, so travelers should pack repellent and screens.

exploreminnesota.com/profile/mille-lacs-area-tourism-council/10015What license do I need to rent an RV in Isle, MN?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Isle, MN. Minnesota does not require a special endorsement or commercial driver's license for the motorhomes or trailers listed on RVezy, even larger Class A coaches you might take to Mille Lacs Lake. You'll need to be at least 25 with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID securely through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home-country license. Most first-time renters are surprised how quickly the paperwork wraps up so they can focus on the walleye bite.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included when I book an RV in Isle, MN?
Every RV rental in Isle, MN booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can pull into Father Hennepin State Park with real peace of mind. During checkout you choose the coverage level that fits your comfort and budget (hosts don't set this for you), and the plan helps cover physical damage to the RV during your trip. It's not traditional auto insurance, but it provides substantial financial protection if something unexpected happens on Highway 47 or a back road near Wahkon. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers carefully when booking your Mille Lacs RV trip. The higher tier often pays for itself the first time weather or a minor mishap interrupts your plans.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Isle, MN trip plans change?
Booking an RV rental in Isle, MN is low-risk. RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy, and it includes a full money-back grace period right after you book. After that window, your refund depends on how far out from your trip start date you cancel, with additional considerations for extenuating circumstances. Because the policy is platform-wide, you get the same fair treatment whether you rent a campervan or a fifth wheel, and if a host ever cancels on you, RVezy helps with a refund or rebooking credit. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best rigs for walleye opener weekend, knowing the cancellation policy gives you flexibility if life shifts.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Isle, MN?

Mille Lacs Kathio State Park, 20 minutes west, also allows leashed dogs on most of its 35+ miles of trails. Many local hosts will deliver and set up the RV at Father Hennepin State Park, Mille Lacs Kathio State Park, McQuoid's Inn, or a private resort site, then walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees are typically based on mileage from the host's location. Filter listings by Delivery to see what's available. Pro tip: ask your host to deliver the day before your reservation if the campground allows it, so you wake up to a full day on the lake instead of setup.

Minnesota gas prices typically run near or slightly below the national average, with stations in Isle, Onamia, and Garrison all convenient for fill-ups. Most motorhomes include a TV, many have a generator for off-grid stays, and a growing number offer Wi-Fi or cell boosters (handy because reception around parts of the lake can be spotty). Pro tip: when you're comparing a motorhome rental in Isle, MN, prioritize a rig with a generator and a power awning. Both pay off when you're parked lakeside catching the sunset.

Hosts in the Isle area offer thoughtful add-ons that make Mille Lacs trips easier. Common options include bedding and towel packages ($25 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor rugs, fishing gear and rod holders, generators for boondocking, bike racks, kayak or paddleboard add-ons, and propane refills. Many hosts include free unlimited mileage for stays kept inside Minnesota or charge per mile beyond a daily allowance. Pickup typically happens at the host's location with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough, and dropoff is the reverse. Pro tip: bundling a delivery add-on with a fishing gear package often costs less than driving the rig yourself plus renting tackle at a bait shop, and you'll be casting from McQuoid's dock by lunchtime.
dnr.state.mn.us/fishing/index.htmlHow does payment and the security deposit work for an Isle, MN RV rental?
Payment is simple and secure through RVezy. You pay the full rental cost (nightly rate, fees, taxes, and any add-ons) through the platform when you book, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. A separate security deposit hold is placed on your card before pickup; the exact amount depends on the rig and the protection plan you select, and it's released after your trip once the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid issues, take time-stamped photos of the RV inside and out at pickup and dropoff, top off the fuel and propane per host instructions, and stay within the mileage allowance. Pro tip: dump the tanks before returning the RV. Most hosts charge a dumping fee if you skip this step.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksAre winter and cold-weather RV rentals available in Isle, MN?
Yes, and a winter RV trip to Isle can be an unforgettable adventure. Many local hosts offer four-season rigs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and high-output furnaces, ideal for ice fishing season on Mille Lacs Lake (typically mid-December through early March, when the famous ice road communities form). McQuoid's Inn and several private resorts maintain winter RV sites with electric hookups so you can keep the furnace running. Pickup walkthroughs include winter-specific tips like managing your fresh water tank and using heat tape. Pro tip: book a rig with a generator or shore-power-ready setup, bring an insulated sewer hose and tank heaters, and check current ice conditions with the Minnesota DNR before heading out near Garrison for the lake's famous winter walleye action.
