Campgrounds and RV parks near Lilydale, MN

Lilydale Regional Park is the main draw at the doorstep. Paved bike and walking trails weave through floodplain forest along the Mississippi, and Pickerel Lake supports small-boat fishing and birdwatching. A picnic pavilion and dog park round out the amenities, and the Big Rivers Regional Trail connects south toward historic Mendota and Fort Snelling State Park at the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers. Beyond the park, Saint Paul sits minutes away by car. Families combine camp stays with the Science Museum of Minnesota, the Minnesota Zoo, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, Valleyfair in Shakopee, and Mall of America in Bloomington. Guests staying at Dakotah Meadows RV Park have shuttle access to Mystic Lake Casino next door.

The Twin Cities have a hot-summer humid continental climate with wide temperature swings between seasons. Summers are warm and humid, and nearly half of annual precipitation typically falls during the summer months of July and August in the form of thunderstorms. This is peak camping season, and most private RV parks near Lilydale, including Town and Country Campground and RV Park, run roughly April through October. Spring and fall bring cooler nights and lower crowds. Fall foliage along the river bluffs peaks in late September and October, and campgrounds usually stay open until snowfall arrives. Dakotah Meadows RV Park operates on a seasonal schedule that generally runs from spring into fall. Winters are cold and snowy, with an annual average snowfall of over 54 inches and frequent subzero nights in January. Most private RV parks close for the season, and lakeside sites become inaccessible to large rigs, though Lilydale Regional Park itself stays open year-round for day use, hiking, and winter viewing along the bluff faces.

Private RV parks near Lilydale skew toward paved or concrete pads with full hookups, 30- and 50-amp service, laundry, showers, and Wi-Fi. Town and Country Campground and RV Park runs a heated pool and family activities on weekends, while Dakotah Meadows RV Park offers concrete full-hookup sites, a free shuttle to Mystic Lake Casino, and traditional Dakota tipi rentals. Sites in the metro tend to be closer together than at state parks, and some road or highway noise is common given the urban location. Big-rig access is generally good, and most parks accept pets. Minnesota state park campsites are limited to one camping group, one shelter, and one vehicle per site, with quiet hours in the overnight period.
