Campgrounds near Pierz, Minnesota
Pierz sits in Morrison County in central Minnesota, roughly midway between Little Falls and Mille Lacs Lake. The town is small, but its position along Highways 25 and 27 puts RV travelers within a short drive of the Mississippi River corridor, the Platte and Rum river systems, and two of the region's most-visited state parks. Camping options range from full-hookup private resorts geared to families to state park campgrounds with limited electric sites and historic settings.
The closest option in town is Pierz Golf Course & Campground, which pairs a nine-hole course with basic RV sites. A short drive south, Two Rivers Campground and Tubing in Royalton sits near the confluence of the Mississippi and Platte rivers and functions as a family resort with pool, mini-golf, and tube rentals. To the northwest, Charles A Lindbergh State Park offers a wooded campground on the Mississippi River.
Farther south, The Harbor On Crescent Bay and the Petega campground at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park extend the options toward Mille Lacs Lake, one of the largest lakes in the state.
Things to do near Pierz
River recreation defines much of the area. Tubing on the Platte River is the signature summer activity at Two Rivers Campground and Tubing, where rental tubes include shuttle service up the river. Paddlers can also canoe Pike Creek or the Mississippi from Charles A Lindbergh State Park, and the Rum River from the Petega area at Mille Lacs Kathio, where the slow current makes it ideal for family canoe outings, with rental canoes and kayaks available at the Rum River access area.
On land, Mille Lacs Kathio offers over 35 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, plus an observation tower with panoramic views. History-minded travelers can visit the historic home of Charles A. Lindbergh, operated by the Minnesota Historical Society adjacent to the state park, and the interpretive center at Kathio, a National Historic Landmark District. Fishing on Mille Lacs Lake and the Mississippi rounds out the itinerary.

The prime RV season in central Minnesota runs from mid-May through early October. Private resorts generally follow that same window, and tubing on the Platte depends on water levels and warm-weather flow. State park drive-in campgrounds typically operate through the warm months, with reduced services in the shoulder seasons.
Summer is peak season. Weekends at popular campgrounds fill months out, and mosquito activity along the rivers can be heavy, particularly at wooded sites like Charles A Lindbergh State Park. Fall brings hardwood color along the Mississippi and Platte river bottoms and cooler nights that thin out the bugs.
Winter camping is limited but not impossible. Petega Campground at Mille Lacs Kathio is open year-round, with electric hookups, some primitive sites, and private wooded walk-in sites, and the park is used for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Most private campgrounds close for the season.

How to book campsites near Pierz
State park campgrounds in this area, including Charles A Lindbergh State Park and Petega at Mille Lacs Kathio, are booked through the Minnesota DNR reservation system. Camping and lodging reservations for Minnesota state parks and recreation areas are available 120 days in advance, and overnight guests need a state park vehicle permit in addition to a camping or lodging reservation. Campers can reserve sites online at mndnr.gov/reservations or by phone at 866-857-2757.
Private campgrounds handle their own bookings, generally through their operator websites. Summer weekends and holiday periods sell out early, so booking at the 120-day window is recommended for state park electric sites and any summer Friday or Saturday arrival.
What to expect
Expect a mix of settings within a short drive. Private parks near Pierz lean family-resort, with pools, playgrounds, and full-hookup sites suitable for larger rigs. State park campgrounds are more rustic: the 38-site facility at Charles A. Lindbergh State Park accommodates RVs up to 50 feet with electric hookups available at sites 1-15, while the remaining sites offer non-electric camping, and a water fill-up and dumping station for trailers are located near the campground.
Sites tend to be wooded and shaded, which is welcome in July heat but keeps mosquito pressure high after wet stretches. Cell coverage is generally reliable near the highways and spottier inside the state parks. Firewood is sold at both state parks; bringing wood from outside the area is discouraged to limit invasive pests. Plan for cool evenings even in midsummer and pack layers for shoulder-season trips.

June brings lush green forests and the famous Minnesota fishing opener crowd, August offers the warmest lake water, and September delivers cool nights, fewer mosquitoes, and the start of stunning tamarack and maple fall colors at Mille Lacs Kathio. Winters here are genuinely cold (January highs around 18°F), so most campgrounds close from late October through April. Pro tip: book the last weekend of September for the best mix of color, comfort, and quiet campgrounds.

If something stumps you near Mille Lacs, your host is just a message away, and RVezy's support team is on call too. For medical or true emergencies, dial 911. Pro tip: save your host's number and the RVezy support line in your phone before you leave.

Cross-border travel into Canada is often allowed too, but confirm with the host before booking because insurance and protection coverage need to be verified for international travel. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. Bring your passport for Canada, plus your rental agreement and proof of coverage at the border. Pro tip: the drive from Pierz to International Falls and Voyageurs National Park (about 200 miles) is a classic Northwoods route worth two full days.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Pierz RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier costs to plan for. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (mpg), Class A rigs run 6 to 10 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 mpg loaded). Gas prices in Morrison County typically run a few cents below the Twin Cities average, with stations in Pierz, Little Falls, and Brainerd along Highway 10 and Highway 25. For a typical weekend loop to Mille Lacs and back (about 100 miles round trip), budget $40 to $70 in fuel. Pro tip: top off in Little Falls before heading into the Brainerd Lakes area, prices climb slightly at the resort-town pumps.

Booking ahead is the secret to a stress-free Pierz RV trip. Minnesota state park campgrounds (Mille Lacs Kathio, Crow Wing, Father Hennepin, Charles A. Lindbergh) open reservations 120 days in advance through the Minnesota DNR reservation system, and prime summer weekends, especially fishing opener in mid-May and the Fourth of July, fill within hours. Pierz Municipal Campground books directly through the City of Pierz and tends to fill 4 to 8 weeks out for weekends. Pro tip: if you miss the initial booking window, check back on Wednesdays, cancellations often free up weekend sites two weeks before arrival.

There are no mountain passes, low bridges, or urban tunnels to worry about. Summer thunderstorms can bring heavy rain and strong crosswinds, so check the National Weather Service forecast before long drives. Pro tip: if you're heading south to the Twin Cities, time your I-94 leg outside the 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. rush hours through St. Cloud.

Many include a generator, outdoor speakers, awning, and outdoor camp chairs. TVs and Wi-Fi hotspots are common on newer rigs, ask the host. Campervan rental Pierz options (Class B vans) are more compact but still include a bed, kitchenette, and often a wet bath. Many hosts offer delivery and full setup as a flat add-on too. For a family RV trip Pierz, ask about kid-friendly extras like camp chairs, outdoor games, and screen rooms. Mileage policies and generator hours are set per listing, so review carefully. Pro tip: bundling delivery + setup + linens is often cheaper as a package, ask the host directly through RVezy messaging before booking.
exploreminnesota.com/things-to-do/outdoor-adventuresHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. When you book your RV rental in Pierz, MN, RVezy charges your credit card directly through the platform, with no cash or off-platform payments to the host. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the trip, assuming the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid issues, take date-stamped photos and a quick video walkaround at both pickup and drop-off, refill the propane and fuel as agreed, and clean up before returning. Pro tip: dump tanks at Pierz Municipal Campground or Mille Lacs Kathio before drop-off to avoid the standard dump fee some hosts charge.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent a winter-ready RV from Pierz for ice fishing or snow adventures?
Yes, winter RV adventures from Pierz are doable and a uniquely Minnesota experience. Some RVezy hosts in the area offer four-season RVs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, dual-pane windows, and propane furnaces built for cold nights. These rigs are popular for ice fishing on Mille Lacs Lake, snowmobiling the Soo Line Trail right out of Pierz, or cross-country skiing at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park. When booking, message the host to confirm the unit is winterized for use (not just storage) and ask about shore power needs at your destination. Pro tip: pair a winter-ready rental with a stay at a Mille Lacs ice-house resort for the best of both worlds.
