Campgrounds and RV parks near Alpine, NJ

Alpine sits at the northern tip of Bergen County on the Palisades above the Hudson River, directly across from the Bronx. RV travelers use it as a base for both New York City sightseeing and Hudson Valley outdoor trips, since the George Washington Bridge is a short drive south and the Palisades Interstate Parkway runs along the town's western edge. The closest urban option is Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City, a waterfront park open year-round with electric and water sites, showers, laundry, and a dump station. For a more traditional campground experience, Beaver Pond Campground in Harriman State Park is roughly 25 miles north of the George Washington Bridge and offers tent and trailer sites next to Lake Welch. Further afield, Pelton Pond at Clarence Fahnestock State Park sits in the Hudson Highlands, Camp Wyanokie provides rustic tent-only sites near Norvin Green State Forest in West Milford, and Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn offers tent and RV sites inside Gateway National Recreation Area.

New York State Park campgrounds, including Beaver Pond and Pelton Pond, use the ReserveAmerica system. Reservations can be made up to nine months in advance online or by calling 1-800-456-2267. Same-day campsite reservations are allowed until 3 p.m., and walk-ins are permitted on campsites only. Camp Gateway at Floyd Bennett Field is booked on Recreation.gov, with a six-month booking window and photo ID required at check-in. Liberty Harbor RV Park takes reservations directly through its own website and phone line. Camp Wyanokie handles everything online through Campspot, with no on-site staff and no phone reservations. Bookings must be made before 5 p.m. on the arrival date and cannot exceed seven consecutive nights.
