Camping near Barrington, New Jersey
Barrington sits in Camden County just off Route 30, roughly 15 minutes from downtown Philadelphia via the Ben Franklin Bridge. The borough itself is a compact residential community with no campgrounds inside its limits, but it serves as a practical staging point for RV travelers heading into the wider South Jersey camping belt. Most nearby parks lie 20 to 45 minutes south and east, in Gloucester, Salem, and Atlantic counties.
Options closest to Barrington range from lake-oriented family resorts to wooded family-owned parks. Lake Kandle in Sewell offers RV and pop-up sites around a spring-fed lake and swim club. Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday, the only KOA in New Jersey, sits just off I-295 exit 18 and functions as the main big-rig transient stop for the region. Old Cedar Campground in Monroeville, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: South Jersey in Williamstown, and Four Seasons Campgrounds in Pilesgrove fill out the family-resort tier further south.
Barrington itself provides supermarkets, fuel, and RV-parts retailers, which makes it a useful base for provisioning before heading to any of these parks.
Things to do near Barrington
Barrington's location puts Philadelphia's historic core within a short drive: Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art are all reachable by car or PATCO high-speed line from nearby stations. Camden's waterfront adds the Adventure Aquarium and the Battleship New Jersey. Atlantic City and the Jersey Shore beaches sit about an hour east via the Atlantic City Expressway.
Closer to the campgrounds, families use on-site amenities as the main draw. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: South Jersey features swimming pools and lake fun, jumping pillows, gem mining, and organized games and activities. Lake Kandle centers on lake swimming, a snack bar, kayaking, and pool complex. Old Cedar Campground offers mini golf, a pool, fishing, and is within walking distance of a local winery, while Four Seasons Campgrounds runs a swimming pool, lake fishing, and weekend activity programs.

The South Jersey camping season is short and demand-heavy. Most private parks near Barrington open in mid-April and close in late October or early November. Lake Kandle operates from May 1st to October 1st each year, Old Cedar Campground runs April 15 through October 31, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: South Jersey opens April 18 and closes November 9, with peak season from mid-June to early September. Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday stays open through the shoulder months and into winter, which makes it the main year-round option in the immediate area.
Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day weekends book out earliest, often months in advance, and most parks impose a two- or three-night minimum around holidays. Lake Kandle has reported strong seasonal demand, with no nightly sites available in some recent years and only weekly or monthly openings after Memorial Day weekend.
Spring and fall shoulder weeks offer easier availability, cooler nights, and lower demand. Winter camping options are limited because most parks are closed and water lines are shut down.

We had a great experience with RV Cozy Camper. The camper truly lived up to its name — it was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, making our trip relaxing and enjoyable. Everything we needed was thoughtfully provided, and the layout made the space feel welcoming and functional. It was easy to tow and set up, which helped take a lot of stress out of the trip. The attention to detail really showed and made us feel comfortable right away. Communication was smooth and helpful, and any questions we had were answered promptly. Overall, this was a wonderful experience, and we would absolutely recommend RV Cozy Camper to anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable camping option. We would happily use RV Cozy Camper again for future trips!

We had a family reunion out in West Virginia the first week in August. We decided to rent an RV this how I found Rod the owner of the RV. He was very polite and up front we us the whole time. The only down fall is the no pet rule. But we definitely rent from him next year.

We had a blast on our family road trip. "Archie" was easy to drive, clean and comfortable for my family of 3, with room to spare. Rod is a really nice guy and responded quickly to any question we had. We would love to do it again soon

How to book near Barrington
Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday takes reservations through the KOA website and app, with standard KOA cancellation terms and a 10% discount at checkout for KOA Rewards members. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: South Jersey books through Campspot and the Jellystone site, with Club Yogi Rewards points redeemable at any Jellystone location.
Smaller family-owned parks handle reservations more directly. Old Cedar Campground requires a minimum of 2 nights for weekend reservations and 3 nights for holidays, with a refundable security deposit at booking. Four Seasons Campgrounds takes a deposit for reservations and requires advance notice for cancellations. Lake Kandle prioritizes seasonal renters and has recently offered only weekly or monthly availability after Memorial Day weekend, so travelers should call or email the office before planning a nightly stay.
What to expect at Barrington-area campgrounds
Parks near Barrington skew toward family resorts rather than rustic public campgrounds. Expect full-hookup sites with 30 and 50-amp service, pull-throughs sized for big rigs at the KOA and Jellystone, gravel or grass pads, and paved or dirt interior roads. Wooded sites are common but tree cover varies by park.
Traffic is a real planning factor. I-295, the New Jersey Turnpike, and Route 42 all funnel commuter and beach traffic through this corridor, so arrivals on Friday afternoons and departures on Sunday evenings can be slow.
Pet and tent policies vary widely. Lake Kandle prohibits pets, tent camping, golf carts, skateboards, and weapons, while KOA and Jellystone are pet-friendly and accept tents in designated areas. Confirm restrictions before booking, especially for tent setups, golf carts, or additional guests.

New Jersey does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes, campervans, or travel trailers booked through RVezy. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older and must upload a valid license during booking so RVezy can verify your ID through the platform. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Booking feels low-risk because RVezy, not the host, sets the cancellation policy, and there is a money-back grace period right after you book. If your plans change shortly after reservation, you have built-in flexibility. The exact terms depend on how far out your trip is and the circumstances of the cancellation. Cancellation details are handled directly by RVezy rather than displayed on individual listings, so the policy is consistent platform-wide. If a host cancels your booking, RVezy refunds you or offers travel credits. Pro tip: book early for summer Jersey Shore weekends knowing the grace period has your back.

Yes, RV delivery in Barrington is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters who would rather skip driving a big rig through Camden County traffic. Many local hosts will deliver and set up your rental at your driveway, a Barrington-area hotel parking lot, or directly at campgrounds like Timberlane Campground in Clarksboro. Your host handles hookups, walks you through every system, and answers questions before they leave. This is ideal if you have never tried a campervan rental in Barrington. Pro tip: filter for listings that offer delivery and confirm any per-mile delivery fee with the host upfront.

nj.reserveamerica.com/When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Barrington?
Late April through October is prime time for RV camping in Barrington, with the sweet spots being May, June, and September when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s to low 80s and humidity stays manageable. July and August can climb into the upper 80s with sticky humidity typical of South Jersey, so plan for AC at hookup sites. October brings beautiful fall color in the Pine Barrens and Wharton State Forest, plus much lighter campground traffic. Winter rentals are available but limited, with some hosts offering winterized RVs for off-season stays at year-round parks. Pro tip: book a shoulder-season Cape May trip in late September for warm beach days and lower rates.
weather.gov/phi/I have never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?
You are going to be just fine. First time renting an RV in Barrington is honestly one of the easiest places to start. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, water hookups, slide-outs, and dashboard so nothing is a mystery. You can message the host with questions before you book, and 24/7 roadside assistance has your back if anything pops up on the road. Most rentals near Barrington are easy to maneuver on flat South Jersey roads. Pro tip: choose a Class C motorhome or campervan rental in Barrington for your first trip; they drive much more like a large van than a bus.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039054213-First-time-renting-an-RVWhat happens if something goes wrong on the road?
Relax, 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy booking, so help is one phone call away whether you are parked in Barrington or cruising the Garden State Parkway toward Atlantic City. If you get a flat, run out of fuel, or need a jump on I-295, roadside dispatch can send a technician directly to you. For mechanical issues, your host is also a direct resource, and many will troubleshoot a quick fix over the phone. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside number and your host's contact in your phone before you pull out of the driveway.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Barrington RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel from Barrington is encouraged, since you are at the gateway to Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and New York. The Walt Whitman and Ben Franklin Bridges put you in Philadelphia in about 15 minutes, and the Commodore Barry Bridge gets you into Delaware in under 30. Travel to Canada may be allowed with host approval and confirmed insurance coverage, so message the host directly from the listing before booking. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance limitations. Pro tip: a popular RV road trip from Barrington runs south through Delaware to Assateague Island and back up through Ocean City, MD.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on my Barrington RV trip?
Fuel is one of your biggest variable costs, but South Jersey makes budgeting straightforward. Campervans typically get 16 to 20 mpg, Class C motorhomes around 10 to 14 mpg, and Class A rigs 7 to 10 mpg. With New Jersey gas prices generally in the $3.10 to $3.50 range per gallon, a 300-mile weekend round trip to Cape May in a Class C runs roughly $75 to $100 in fuel. New Jersey is a full-service state, so attendants pump your gas, which makes RV fuel stops surprisingly easy. Pro tip: fill up in NJ before crossing into Pennsylvania, where prices are often higher, and use Wawa or Royal Farms stations with tall canopies that better accommodate big rigs.
gasprices.aaa.com/?state=NJHow far in advance should I book a campground near Barrington?
Book early to get your pick of the best campgrounds near Barrington. For summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day), reserve New Jersey state park sites like Atsion, Bass River, or Belleplain State Forest 3 to 6 months out through the official state reservation system. Private parks like Timberlane Campground in Clarksboro or the Philadelphia South/Clarksboro KOA typically open bookings a year in advance and can sell out for July 4th weekend by early spring. Midweek and shoulder-season trips are much easier, often bookable just a week or two ahead. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for January 1st to grab prime summer Pine Barrens dates.
nj.reserveamerica.com/What are the local driving conditions like around Barrington?
Driving an RV around Barrington is easier than in most metro areas because South Jersey is mostly flat, well-signed, and built for through traffic. Stick to I-295, the New Jersey Turnpike, and Route 42 for the smoothest big-rig routes. Avoid Center City Philadelphia bridges during weekday rush hour (7 to 9 AM and 4 to 6 PM), and check posted height and weight limits on river crossings before driving over. The Ben Franklin and Walt Whitman Bridges both accommodate standard RVs, but always confirm your rig's height with your host before crossing. Pro tip: use Route 42 south to reach the Atlantic City Expressway, the most RV-friendly route to the Jersey Shore.
