Campgrounds and RV parks near Beesleys Point, NJ

The Ocean City boardwalk is the main draw across the bay, a roughly two-mile stretch lined with amusement rides, arcades, pizza and taffy stands, and the historic Music Pier that hosts concerts and community events through the summer. Family days typically mix boardwalk time with beach hours, mini-golf, and bike rides along the boards in the early morning. Inland, the Cape May County Park and Zoo near Cape May Court House is open year-round with free admission and offers walking trails, playgrounds, and picnic areas alongside the animal exhibits. Day trips south reach the Wildwoods boardwalk and its amusement piers, while Cape May Point State Park at the peninsula's tip has nature trails, a lighthouse, and strong birding, especially during fall migration.

The practical camping window in Cape May County runs roughly from April through late October. Whippoorwill Campground, for example, operates on an April 1 to late-October season, and most surrounding parks follow a similar schedule. Peak demand lines up with public-school summer break, from late June through Labor Day, when boardwalk crowds and beach traffic are highest and sites at family-oriented parks book well ahead. Late spring and early fall are the quieter shoulder windows. May and September bring milder days, thinner crowds, and easier same-week reservations, though ocean water is chilly in May and cooling again by late September. Fall migration through Cape May Point makes September and October popular with birders. Winter is essentially off-season for RV camping here. Temperatures hover near freezing on average, snowfall is possible from December through March, and coastal storms and nor'easters can bring wind and heavy rain. Nearly all private campgrounds in the county are closed during these months.

Sites in this corridor are generally wooded and level, cut into pine and mixed hardwoods with sand or gravel pads. Whippoorwill's roads are paved with sand and gravel campsites offering 30/50 amp electric and water, plus full-hookup sites with sewer and rustic waterless cabin rentals. Amenities across the local parks typically include swimming pools, playgrounds, arcades, laundry, dump stations, and planned weekend activities for families. There are no campgrounds directly on the beach in Cape May County. The barrier islands are built out, and camping is concentrated on the mainland within a short drive of the ocean. Expect summer humidity, mosquitoes near marsh edges, and heavy weekend traffic on the causeways into Ocean City, Sea Isle City, and the Wildwoods.
