Campgrounds and RV parks near Blackwells Mills, NJ

Blackwells Mills sits along the Delaware and Raritan Canal in Somerset County, New Jersey, within a short drive of several state parks that offer RV-friendly camping. The village itself has no campground, so most RV renters base their trip at parks in Hunterdon, Sussex, or Mercer counties, then use Blackwells Mills as a launch point for the canal towpath and nearby river towns. The closest state-park camping options are Washington Crossing State Park to the south along the Delaware River, and Voorhees State Park and Spruce Run State Recreational Area to the northwest in the Hunterdon hills. For a private RV resort experience, Crystal Springs Wilderness Lodges and RV Resort in Sussex County offers full-service sites and lodges. Timberland Lake Campground provides a family-oriented private option within reach of central New Jersey attractions. Expect a mix of rustic state-park sites with limited hookups and full-hookup private parks. Spruce Run has a small block of trailer sites with water and 30/50 amp electric, while Voorhees is no-hookup with a dump station shared at Spruce Run. Reservation windows, seasonal closures, and vehicle-length limits vary by property.

New Jersey state-park campgrounds, including Voorhees State Park and Spruce Run Recreation Area, use a single reservation portal at camping.nj.gov, and reservations can also be made by calling the park office. Same-day reservations at Spruce Run are accepted online until 2:00 p.m., and walk-in reservations are accepted if space is available. Peak summer weekends and holiday periods book out well in advance, especially reservoir sites at Spruce Run. Private campgrounds such as Crystal Springs Wilderness Lodges and RV Resort and Timberland Lake Campground handle bookings directly through their own websites or by phone, and typically open reservations further in advance than state parks. Washington Crossing State Park camping is currently closed, so it should not be counted on for an itinerary.
