Cedar Knolls sits in Morris County in northern New Jersey, roughly 30 miles west of Manhattan. RV travelers use it as a base for the wooded Highlands region, with lakes, trout streams, and state forest trails within a short drive. Most nearby camping options cluster to the west and northwest, along Route 46, Route 206, and I-80. Options run from full-hookup private resorts to rustic tent-only sites. Fla-Net Park in Flanders offers a compact RV park close to shopping and NJ Transit rail service to New York. Panther Lake Camping Resort in Andover is a larger family resort with a lake, cabins, and RV sites. Stephens State Park near Hackettstown provides state-run camping along the Musconetcong River. Camp Wyanokie in West Milford serves as a rustic tent-only option at the edge of Norvin Green State Forest, and Goodland Country Club and Spa in Hackettstown rounds out the area. Together these properties give renters a mix of hookup camping, lakeside resorts, and forested state park sites within an hour of Cedar Knolls.

State park campsites at Stephens are booked through New Jersey's official reservation system. Reservations can be made online through the NJ Outdoors portal, and tent and small trailer sites with fire rings and picnic tables are available. Sites are limited and summer weekends fill quickly, so book several weeks ahead. Private resorts handle their own reservations. Panther Lake and Fla-Net Park take bookings by phone or through their websites, with holiday weekends often reserved months in advance. Camp Wyanokie requires reservations for day use or overnight use, handled online through Campspot, with check-in from 2pm to dusk. Camp Wyanokie cannot accommodate trailers, RVs, motorhomes, or pop-up campers, since its campsites are rustic tent sites, so RV renters should target Fla-Net Park, Panther Lake, Goodland Country Club and Spa, or Stephens State Park for suitable sites.
