Campgrounds and RV parks near Chester, NJ

Chester sits in central Morris County, within easy driving range of Skylands region campgrounds that anchor RV travel across northwest New Jersey. Renters typically base out of parks along the Interstate 80 and US 206 corridors, roughly twenty to thirty minutes from downtown Chester. The area mixes private RV resorts with one state park campground, so trip planners can choose between full-hookup convenience and river-side state land. Closest to town, Fla-Net Park in Flanders offers full-hookup sites a short drive from Chester, and Goodland Country Club and Spa near Hackettstown adds a private-club setting with RV sites. Farther out but still well within a day's reach, Stephens State Park sits along the Musconetcong River, while Panther Lake Camping Resort and The Great Divide Campground, LLC bring larger family-resort amenities to Sussex County. Most RV renters here plan around lake swimming, trout streams, and hiking in Allamuchy Mountain and Kittatinny Valley state parks. New York City sits roughly fifty miles east, making the area a practical staging point for renters combining outdoors time with a city day trip.

State-park sites and private resorts use different booking systems, so RV renters should plan accordingly. For Stephens State Park, online reservations can be made at camping.nj.gov up to 11 months in advance, with a 2-night minimum and a 14-night maximum. The primary campsite occupant must be 18 or older, alcohol is not permitted at New Jersey state campsites, and quiet hours run from 10 pm to 6 am. Private parks such as Panther Lake Camping Resort, The Great Divide Campground, LLC, Fla-Net Park, and Goodland Country Club and Spa take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer weekends and holidays sell out early at the family resorts, so booking six to eight weeks ahead is a safe target. Stephens accommodates RVs up to 40 feet, though the road layout and individual sites can be tight for larger rigs.
