For a more natural setting, Parvin State Park lies just west of Vineland and offers tent and trailer sites along Parvin Lake, plus rental cabins. Overall, this was a wonderful experience, and we would absolutely recommend RV Cozy Camper to anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable camping option. We had a family reunion out in West Virginia the first week in August. We decided to rent an RV this how I found Rod the owner of the RV. He was very polite and up front we us the whole time. The only down fall is the no pet rule. But we definitely rent from him next year.

We had a blast on our family road trip. "Archie" was easy to drive, clean and comfortable for my family of 3, with room to spare. Rod is a really nice guy and responded quickly to any question we had. We would love to do it again soon

How to book campgrounds near Clayton
Parvin State Park is reserved through the New Jersey State Park Service booking system at camping.nj.gov, with a rolling 11-month reservation window. Bookings can be made online or by phone through the park office, and cabins in particular tend to fill quickly for summer weekends and holidays.
The private parks near Clayton, including Lake Kandle, Old Cedar Campground, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park: South Jersey, and Four Seasons Campgrounds, each take reservations directly through their own websites or call centers. Holiday weekends, themed event weekends, and full-hookup pull-throughs for larger rigs are the first to book out, so families traveling in July or August should reserve well ahead. Confirm rig-length limits, hookup type, and pet policies with the individual campground before finalizing a trip.
What to expect on the ground
Terrain near Clayton is flat to gently rolling, with sandy soils, pine and oak woods, and freshwater lakes. Roads into the campgrounds are generally paved and manageable for standard rental RVs, though access lanes inside Parvin State Park are narrow and require careful maneuvering for larger trailers and motorhomes.
Parvin State Park offers 56 tent and trailer sites along Parvin Lake with fire rings, picnic tables, and lantern hooks, plus flush toilets, showers, and laundry within walking distance. Water, electric, and sewer hookups are not provided at the state park, so travelers wanting full connections usually prefer the nearby private resorts, which also have a trailer sanitary station on site at Parvin.
Expect mosquitoes and biting flies in summer, especially near water and at dusk. Cell coverage can be spotty inside Parvin State Park, and grocery, fuel, and propane stops are available in Clayton, Vineland, and Glassboro.

dep.nj.gov/parksandforests/state-park/belleplain-state-forest/Can the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Clayton?
Yes, RV delivery in Clayton is widely available and is one of the easiest ways to ease into your first trip. Many local hosts will drop the RV at your driveway, a Gloucester County campground, or a nearby state park like Parvin or Belleplain State Forest, then handle leveling, hookups, and a full walkthrough so you don't have to tow or maneuver anything. To find a delivery-ready rig, apply the Delivery filter when searching, then message the host with your destination address so they can confirm distance and any delivery fee. Pro tip: delivery is a game-changer for renters new to RVing, especially if you're heading to a busy shore campground on a Friday afternoon.

The sweet spot for RV camping in Clayton is mid-April through late October, with daytime highs ranging from the mid-60s°F in spring and fall to the mid-80s°F in July and August. May, June, and September are arguably the best months: warm enough for swimming at Lake Nummy or the shore, but without the peak humidity or campground crowds. weather.gov/phi/I've never rented an RV before. Will I get help figuring it out?
You're in great hands. First time renting an RV in Clayton means you'll get a hands-on orientation from your host at pickup, covering everything from leveling and hookups to the propane stove, water systems, and dumping tanks. Hosts in South Jersey are typically RV owners themselves and genuinely want your trip to go well, so don't hesitate to ask every question on your list. You can also message the host before booking through the listing page to get a feel for their style. Pro tip: ask the host to record a short walkthrough video on your phone during pickup, that way you've got a reference when you arrive at Parvin State Park or your driveway in Williamstown.
dep.nj.gov/parksandforests/What if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You're covered around the clock. Every RV rental in Clayton, NJ booked with an RVezy protection plan includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so a flat tire on Route 322, a dead battery at a shore campground, or a lockout in the Pine Barrens is just a phone call away. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after your trip, and your host is typically a quick text away to troubleshoot quirks specific to their rig. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number and your host's contact in your phone, and note the nearest hospital and tow-friendly RV service center before you set out.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Clayton, NJ rental RV across state lines or into Canada?

Cross-border travel into Canada may also be allowed depending on the host and insurance details, so message the host directly from the listing to confirm before you book. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance limitations. Popular multi-state routes from Clayton include the Delaware beaches loop, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a Pocono-to-Finger Lakes circuit. Pro tip: bring your passport for Canada trips and confirm with your host at least a few weeks in advance.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Clayton RV trip?
Fuel is one of the bigger trip costs, but it's easy to plan for. Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class B campervans 14 to 20 MPG, and a truck plus travel trailer roughly 10 to 14 MPG. New Jersey gas prices have recently averaged in the low to mid $3 range per gallon, and remember that attendants pump your fuel for you in New Jersey, it's the law here. For a 300-mile weekend loop to Cape May and back, budget roughly $90 to $130 in gas for a typical Class C. Pro tip: use a fuel-price app like GasBuddy and fill up in Clayton or Vineland before heading toward the shore, where prices often climb in summer.

Private parks such as Hospitality Creek and Clarksboro KOA typically take direct reservations many months out, with the best lakefront sites going first. For a worry-free Clayton NJ RV trip, aim to book campgrounds 3 to 6 months ahead for July and August, and 1 to 2 months ahead for spring and fall. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) almost always have availability, even at packed shore-adjacent campgrounds.

Clayton sits in a rural pocket of Gloucester County with flat terrain, wide roads, and no mountain passes, which makes it a beginner-friendly base for RV driving. Route 55, Route 322, and the Atlantic City Expressway are smooth, well-maintained, and easy to navigate in a motorhome. The main things to watch for: summer shore traffic on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings heading to and from the Jersey Shore, occasional low-clearance bridges in older shore towns (most are signed clearly), and tight historic streets in Cape May and Atlantic City. Pro tip: drive south to the beach early Friday morning or later Friday evening to dodge the Parkway crawl, and use a GPS set to RV mode to avoid surprises.
