Campgrounds and RV parks near Crandon Lakes, NJ

Crandon Lakes sits in northwestern New Jersey's Sussex County, in the Kittatinny Mountains near the Delaware Water Gap. The area is a practical RV base for the Skylands region, with a mix of state park camping and privately run family resorts within a short drive. The closest public option is Swartswood State Park, New Jersey's first state park, which has 65 tent and trailer sites plus rental shelters and yurts, operates seasonally, and accommodates RVs up to 35 feet. Sites have no full hookups, but a dump station is available in the park. Private resorts round out the choices: Kymer's Camping Resort in Branchville offers 250 sites on 200 acres in the Kittatinny Mountains, and The Great Divide Campground in Newton sits in the Skylands region with wooded and open sites for tents, RVs, motorhomes, and cabin rentals, open roughly May through mid-October with seasonal sites available. Just across the Delaware River in Pennsylvania, Dingmans Campground is a 65-acre, 133-site rustic campground along the Delaware River inside Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, giving Crandon Lakes visitors a national park option roughly a half-hour drive west.

State park sites use the New Jersey reservation system. Online reservations for Swartswood State Park can be made at camping.nj.gov up to a year in advance, for stays up to 14 days. Summer weekends and holiday dates go fast, so booking several months out is advised, particularly for waterfront loops. Dingmans Campground operates inside Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area under a commercial use authorization with the National Park Service, and reservations are handled directly through the campground rather than Recreation.gov. Private resorts including Kymer's Camping Resort and The Great Divide Campground book through their own websites and phone lines, with seasonal-site holders getting priority on prime weekends. For an RV rental, confirm site length limits and hookup type before booking. Swartswood caps RV length at 35 feet, and many riverside sites at Dingmans are tent-only.
