Campgrounds and RV parks near Cresskill, NJ

Cresskill sits in Bergen County, New Jersey, less than fifteen miles from Midtown Manhattan and directly across the Hudson from the George Washington Bridge. The area itself is dense suburbia with no campgrounds inside the borough, so RV travelers use it as a launch point for options in Jersey City, the New Jersey Highlands, and the Hudson Valley across the state line. The closest hookup RV park is Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City, roughly a half hour south. For traditional wooded camping, Beaver Pond Campground inside Harriman State Park lies about an hour north in Rockland County, New York, and Wawayanda State Park sits about an hour northwest in the New Jersey Highlands. Camp Wyanokie, near Norvin Green State Forest in West Milford, offers rustic tent-only sites for parties without an RV. Floyd Bennett Field, part of Gateway National Recreation Area in Brooklyn, is another seasonal option within reach and one of the few National Park Service campgrounds in the New York City area.

Reservation systems vary by park agency. Beaver Pond Campground inside Harriman State Park is booked through the New York State Parks ReserveAmerica portal, with sites available up to nine months in advance. Wawayanda State Park uses New Jersey's state camping portal at camping.nj.gov, and its group sites require a seven-person minimum. Floyd Bennett Field, run by the National Park Service inside Gateway National Recreation Area, takes reservations through Recreation.gov up to six months out, with a 14-night maximum stay, and operates seasonally from Memorial Day weekend into fall. Liberty Harbor RV Park handles bookings directly through its own website and phone line. Camp Wyanokie accepts tents only, so it is not usable for RV parties. For summer weekends, book as early as the window opens.
