Camping near Delaware Park, New Jersey
Delaware Park sits in northwestern New Jersey along the Delaware River corridor, within reach of the Musconetcong Mountains, Bucks County across the river in Pennsylvania, and the southern end of Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area to the north. The area suits RV travelers looking for a mix of riverfront family campgrounds, wooded rustic sites, and quick access to hiking, paddling, and small river towns.
Private campgrounds dominate the local inventory. Mountainview Campground sits on the south side of the Musconetcong Mountains in the northwest corner of Hunterdon County, only 5 miles from the Delaware River, and provides 50, 30, or 15-amp electricity with pump-out service, firewood, and ice available on the premises. Driftstone on the Delaware sits on the Pennsylvania side of the river with spacious sites for tents, popups, trailers, and motorhomes, has been providing family camping for 60 years, and runs a camping season from mid-May to mid-October. Ringing Rocks Family Campground and Colonial Woods Family Resort round out the Bucks County options, with Beaver Valley Campgrounds also within the local cluster.
Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area surrounds 40 miles of the Delaware River, spanning both Pennsylvania and New Jersey sides, and offers additional camping within a short drive north.
Things to do near Delaware Park
The Delaware River is the main draw. Driftstone allows campers to bring a canoe, rowboat, or motorboat for excursions on a three-mile stretch of the Delaware, with motors up to 50 horsepower recommended and jet skis, waverunners, pontoon boats, and boats with over-the-transom exhaust not permitted. Anglers cast for smallmouth bass, walleye, pickerel, channel cats, muskellunge, rock bass, and bluegill, and a PA or NJ fishing license is required.
On land, hiking is close at hand. Ringing Rocks County Park in Bucks County features an unusual boulder field where certain rocks produce a metallic tone when struck, plus a small waterfall. The Appalachian Trail crosses the Delaware Water Gap a short drive north, and trails on the New Jersey side include routes at Worthington State Forest and Mount Tammany.
Family-friendly extras include swimming pools at several private campgrounds, riverside beaches, and nearby small towns such as Frenchtown and Milford for shops and restaurants.

Camping in the region is a warm-season activity. Most local campgrounds open from spring through mid-fall, and Driftstone on the Delaware runs a camping season from mid-May to mid-October. Winter RV camping options in this specific corridor are limited, and travelers should confirm dates directly with each campground before booking.
Summer is peak season. School holidays, river paddling, and pool weather push weekend demand at riverfront and family campgrounds, and popular sites at Delaware Water Gap fill early. For federal campgrounds within the recreation area, reservations open several months in advance on Recreation.gov, and for peak-season visits campers should book as early as possible.
Spring and fall bring cooler nights, fewer bugs, and quieter campgrounds. Foliage color typically peaks in mid to late October along the river valley. Spring can be wet, with higher river flows favoring experienced paddlers over families with small children.
How to book near Delaware Park
Private campgrounds in the area handle their own reservations. Driftstone accepts reservations in person or by calling 888.355.6859, and keeps office hours Sunday through Thursday 8 AM to 9 PM and Friday and Saturday 8 AM to 10 PM. Reservations are taken over the telephone or in person, and Driftstone does not offer online reservations. Mountainview Campground, Ringing Rocks Family Campground, Colonial Woods Family Resort, and Beaver Valley Campgrounds each maintain their own booking pages or phone lines; call ahead for site type, hookup level, and RV length limits.
For federal sites at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, use Recreation.gov. Riverfront sites and holiday weekends sell out first, so lock in dates well in advance.
What to expect at Delaware Park campgrounds
Expect a mix of park-like private resorts and rustic, primitive-leaning campgrounds. Mountainview is about as close to primitive as you can find in NJ, with large well-spaced sites intertwined in 150 acres of farmland. Driftstone campsites include electric and water hook-ups, and most include 50/30/20 amp electric, water, and cable television, though sewer hook-ups are not available.
RVers should plan the drive carefully. Some Delaware River crossings in this corridor are older, narrow bridges with weight limits that exclude motorhomes and trailers, so follow campground-provided directions rather than default GPS routing.
Cell service can be spotty in the river valley and up in the ridges. Bring cash or a card for firewood and ice, a PA or NJ fishing license if you plan to fish, and bear-aware food storage habits, since black bears are active throughout the region.

Travel trailers in the Warren County area typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes generally range from $180 to $300 per night, and larger Class A coaches can run higher. New Jersey does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for motorhomes or travel trailers used recreationally by private drivers. To book on RVezy you typically need to be at least 25 years old, and your ID is verified through the platform during checkout. Visiting from outside the U.S.? help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my RV rental in Delaware Park, NJ protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RV rental in Delaware Park, NJ booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Route 80 or Old Mine Road with peace of mind. You choose your coverage level during checkout (not the host), and hosts cannot change or lower this protection. Plans help cover accidental damage to the RV during your trip, whether that's a chipped windshield from I-80 gravel or a minor scrape at a riverside campsite at Worthington State Forest. Review the plan details on RVezy before booking so you can pick the level of coverage that fits your trip and comfort.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Delaware Park RV trip?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy applies a clear cancellation policy to every reservation, and hosts do not set their own cancellation rules. The refund you receive depends on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. Weather and unusual events such as major storms (a consideration during Atlantic hurricane season from June through November) can also affect plans, so contact RVezy support right away if your dates shift and they will walk you through your options. You can review the full cancellation policy on the RVezy Help Center before you book, which is why so many first-timers feel comfortable locking in a Delaware Water Gap RV trip months in advance.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Delaware Park, NJ?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rental options in Delaware Park are plentiful. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll find listings from hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). One local note: Worthington State Forest Campground does not allow pets at campsites (only certified service animals), so plan accordingly. Nearby Camp Taylor Campground in Columbia is famously dog-friendly and sits next to the Lakota Wolf Preserve, and Jenny Jump State Forest welcomes leashed pets on trails. Pack a 6-foot leash (required in NJ state parks), proof of rabies vaccination, and plenty of water for warm summer hikes along the Delaware River.
dep.nj.gov/parksandforests/state-park/worthington-state-forest/Can the RV be delivered to my campground near Delaware Park, NJ?
Yes, RV delivery in Delaware Park is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who'd rather not drive a large rig on I-80 or the winding stretches of Old Mine Road. Many local hosts will deliver, level, and set up the RV at your campsite, then walk you through every system, from the propane stove to the freshwater tank. Popular delivery destinations include Worthington State Forest, Camp Taylor Campground in Columbia, Triple Brook Camping Resort in Blairstown, and Delaware River Family Campground in Knowlton Township. Filter by Delivery when searching and message the host with your campsite number. Booking delivery lets you skip the stress of towing entirely and start your vacation the moment you arrive.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038237693-What-is-RV-deliveryHow far can I drive on a Delaware Park RV trip, and what are mileage policies?
You have plenty of room to roam. Most hosts include around 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offer unlimited mileage packages for longer Delaware Park RV trip itineraries: look for that note on the listing. Additional miles typically cost about $0.30 to $0.50 each if you go over. From the Delaware Water Gap area, you're well-positioned for short hops: roughly 25 miles to Jim Thorpe, PA, about 45 miles to High Point State Park, around 75 miles to New York City, about 90 miles to Philadelphia, and roughly 110 miles to Long Beach Island. If you're planning a multi-state RV road trip from Delaware Park, message the host before booking to ask about an unlimited-mileage add-on.

You have great options for RV camping near Delaware Park. Worthington State Forest Campground sits along the Delaware River with wooded sites that accommodate tents and RVs (no hookups, but with modern restrooms and hot showers). Camp Taylor Campground in Columbia offers full-hookup sites and is next to the Lakota Wolf Preserve. Delaware River Family Campground in Knowlton Township has riverfront RV sites with electric and water. Triple Brook Camping Resort in Blairstown offers a pool, full hookups, and family activities. Jenny Jump State Forest provides quieter, more rustic sites. Worthington fills quickly on summer weekends, so reserve as soon as the booking window opens at camping.nj.gov.
dep.nj.gov/parksandforests/state-park/worthington-state-forest/When is the best time to visit Delaware Park, NJ in an RV?
Late April through October is prime season for an RV trip to Delaware Park, with fall (mid-September through late October) being the highlight thanks to brilliant foliage along the Kittatinny Ridge. Summer highs generally run in the 80s with humidity, while spring and fall sit comfortably in the 55 to 75 degree range. Worthington State Forest Campground typically operates from April through December, so even early-season campers have options. Winters here can be cold and snowy with possible snow on Old Mine Road, and most campgrounds close. For peak Mount Tammany foliage, target mid to late October and book your RV at least 6 to 8 weeks ahead because it is one of the busiest stretches of the year.
weather.gov/phi/I've never rented an RV before. How does the pickup process work in Delaware Park, NJ?
First time renting an RV? You're in great company, and Delaware Park, NJ hosts are known for being patient and thorough. At pickup, your host will give you a hands-on orientation covering everything: how to operate the propane, water pump, generator, awning, leveling jacks, slide-outs, and dump procedures. Expect this walkthrough to take 30 to 60 minutes; don't rush it, and ask every question that comes to mind. Many hosts also share a printed cheat sheet or video links you can reference at the campsite. Pro tip: arrive in daylight if possible so you can see everything clearly, and do a quick practice drive in an empty lot (the parking area near the Delaware Water Gap visitor center on I-80 is roomy) before heading to camp.
nps.gov/dewa/planyourvisit/visitorcenters.htmWhat happens if I have a breakdown or problem during my trip?
You're never stranded. Every booking on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so whether it's a flat tire on Route 80, a dead battery at Worthington State Forest, or a lockout at Camp Taylor, help is one phone call away. For mechanical or system questions, like a finicky water heater or a tripped breaker, your host is your second line of support and usually responds quickly via the RVezy app. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after your trip. Cell service can be spotty inside Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, so save the roadside assistance number in your phone before you lose signal near the river.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Delaware Park, NJ RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, multi-state travel is one of the joys of an RV road trip from Delaware Park. You're right on the New Jersey-Pennsylvania border, and crossing into PA (think Jim Thorpe, the Poconos, or Philadelphia) is part of almost every itinerary here. Travel throughout the lower 48 states is generally allowed; confirm with your host before booking if you're planning a long-distance route to places like Maine, the Outer Banks, or the Smokies. Travel into Canada may be permitted depending on the host and insurance terms, so message the host directly to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there. Popular cross-state routes include the Pocono loop and the Catskills circuit.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat gas mileage should I expect and how much will fuel cost?
Realistic expectations make budgeting easier. Class C motorhomes average about 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A coaches around 6 to 10 mpg, campervan rental Delaware Park options (Class B) get roughly 14 to 20 mpg, and a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer typically gets 10 to 14 mpg. New Jersey regular gas prices generally run a bit above the national average, and notably, NJ is a full-service state, so an attendant pumps your gas. For a 300-mile weekend loop through the Poconos in a Class C, plan on roughly $90 to $130 in fuel depending on current prices. Tip: fill up in PA across the I-80 toll bridge, where gas is often cheaper per gallon than in NJ.
gasprices.aaa.com/state-gas-price-averages/How far in advance should I book a campground near Delaware Park, NJ?
Book early and you'll have your pick. New Jersey state park campgrounds, including Worthington State Forest, use the camping.nj.gov reservation system and open bookings months in advance. For peak summer holidays (Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day) and fall foliage weekends in October, sites can fill within hours of release. Aim to book 3 to 6 months ahead for those dates and 2 to 4 weeks ahead for shoulder-season midweek stays. Private campgrounds like Camp Taylor and Triple Brook generally recommend reserving 1 to 2 months ahead for summer weekends. If Worthington shows full, check back often: cancellations happen, and new openings can appear close to the date.
camping.nj.gov/What are driving conditions like around Delaware Park, NJ?
Driving an RV around Delaware Park is very manageable with a little awareness. I-80 is the main artery (four lanes, easy RV driving) and runs straight through the Delaware Water Gap with stunning cliff views. Old Mine Road, the historic route along the river to Worthington State Forest, is narrow, winding, and partially unpaved north of the campground, so larger Class A rigs should approach slowly. Watch for low clearances on the parkway system to the east, since the Garden State Parkway has spots under 10 feet, and avoid Route 46's older bridges in big motorhomes. Cross into PA via the I-80 toll bridge (eastbound toll, E-ZPass or cash) rather than older two-lane bridges, and download offline maps because cell service drops in the Gap.
state.nj.us/transportation/Do campgrounds near Delaware Park, NJ have hookups, dump stations, and water fills?
It depends on where you stay, but you've got plenty of full-service options. Worthington State Forest is a no-hookup campground (drinking water and modern restrooms with showers are available at central facilities, but no electric, water, or sewer at sites); there is no on-site dump station, so plan to dump at a private campground on your way out. Camp Taylor, Triple Brook Camping Resort, and Delaware River Family Campground all offer full hookups (electric, water, sewer) at most sites plus on-site dump stations and potable water fills. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank before heading to Worthington since you can't fill at individual sites, and bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose for the spigot near the bathhouse.
dep.nj.gov/parksandforests/state-park/worthington-state-forest/What features and amenities come with a typical motorhome rental in Delaware Park, NJ?
Motorhome rental Delaware Park listings come surprisingly well-equipped. Most Class C and Class A rigs sleep 4 to 8 people, with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control (roof A/C and furnace), a dinette, and seatbelted seats for travel. Many include a generator for off-grid power at Worthington State Forest (where there are no hookups), a TV and DVD player, and outdoor speakers for riverside evenings. Travel trailers offer similar layouts minus the engine. Wi-Fi is rare onboard, but most hosts include details about what's provided in the listing. Pro tip: filter listings by 'Sleeps' count and 'Generator' to match your group size and Worthington's off-grid setup, and always check the kitchen inventory list before grocery shopping.
nps.gov/dewa/planyourvisit/camping.htmWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for Delaware Park RV rentals?
Hosts in Delaware Park offer a wide range of add-ons to customize your trip. Common options include linen and kitchen packages, camp chairs and outdoor tables, generators or extra propane, bikes and kayaks (great for the Delaware River), pet cleaning fees, and Starlink Wi-Fi on some newer rigs. Pickup is typically at the host's home in Warren or Sussex County, while delivery is often available to Worthington State Forest, Camp Taylor, and other nearby campgrounds, with delivery fees usually based on round-trip mileage. Mileage policies commonly include 100 to 150 free miles per night with extras charged per mile over the included amount. Bundling delivery, setup, and a linen package makes for a true 'just show up' family RV trip in Delaware Park.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Delaware%20Water%20Gap%2C%20NJHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through RVezy at the time of booking using a credit or debit card, so there's no cash exchanged at pickup. A refundable security deposit is held separately from the booking payment (the exact amount depends on the RV) and is released after the trip once the host confirms the rig was returned clean, undamaged, and with the agreed fuel and tank levels. To avoid issues, take date-stamped photos and a short video at pickup and again at dropoff, including the dash mileage, fuel gauge, and tanks. Confirm the propane refill policy and dump station expectations with your host before leaving Worthington or Camp Taylor; documenting fluid levels prevents most deposit disputes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat are the best road trip destinations from Delaware Park, NJ?
You're perfectly positioned for an RV road trip from Delaware Park in almost any direction. Top picks: the Pocono Mountains, PA (about 25 miles, great for waterfalls and Lake Wallenpaupack); Jim Thorpe, PA (about 45 miles, a charming Victorian mountain town with whitewater rafting); High Point State Park, NJ (about 45 miles, the highest point in the state with sweeping tri-state views); the Catskills in NY (about 90 miles, perfect for fall foliage); and Cape May at the Jersey Shore (about 150 miles). New York City sits roughly 75 miles east, but skip RV-ing into Manhattan and park at Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City instead. A 3-day loop through Worthington State Forest, the Poconos, and Jim Thorpe makes a great first-timer itinerary.
