Campgrounds and RV parks near Elmer, NJ

Parvin State Park anchors outdoor recreation in the area, with a lifeguard-staffed swim beach on Parvin Lake, fishing on Parvin Lake, Thundergust Lake, and Muddy Run, and flat, sandy trails through pine and swamp hardwood forest. Boating is limited to electric motors on Parvin Lake, which keeps the shoreline quiet for paddlers. Families staying at Adventure Bound Tall Pines have on-site splash park, pool, and inflatable water slides, plus themed weekends through the season. Old Cedar Campground offers pools, mini golf, playgrounds, and small fishing lakes on a working family farm. Off-site, the Two Bridges Wine Trail, Amish markets in Salem County, and day trips to Philadelphia, Cape May, or the Delaware Bay shore round out the itinerary.

The RV season around Elmer follows a familiar Mid-Atlantic pattern. Parvin State Park's campground and cabins operate from April 1 through November 30, with the sanitary dump station currently listed as closed at Jaggers Point, so travelers relying on state-park dumping should confirm status with the park office or plan to use facilities at a nearby private campground. Private resorts such as Adventure Bound Tall Pines, Old Cedar Campground, Four Seasons Campgrounds, and Lake Kandle typically open in spring and run through mid-fall, with water attractions active from late spring through Labor Day. Peak demand falls on summer weekends and holiday periods, especially Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, when full-hookup sites at the family resorts book out well in advance. Shoulder months in April, May, September, and October bring cooler nights, thinner crowds, and better site selection, though bugs, especially ticks and mosquitoes, remain common near the Pine Barrens through the warm months.

Terrain is flat and sandy, with roads that wind between pines and farm fields. At Parvin State Park, campground roads are narrow and tree-lined, and reviewers consistently note that rigs longer than roughly 30 feet are difficult to maneuver; state sites also lack water, electric, and sewer hookups, though potable water and a dump station are available on the grounds. Cell coverage inside Parvin is spotty. The private resorts near Elmer typically offer full-hookup and water-and-electric sites, bathhouses, laundry, camp stores, and family amenities such as pools and playgrounds. Sites tend to be wooded with soft, sandy ground, so leveling blocks and awning stakes are worth packing. Insect pressure is real from late spring through early fall, and shore-area humidity can make summer nights sticky.
