Campgrounds and RV parks near Estell Manor, NJ

Estell Manor Park is the main draw, with miles of flat trails, a nature center, and elevated boardwalks through swamp habitat. The Great Egg Harbor River is popular for kayaking and canoeing, and Lake Lenape in nearby Mays Landing offers small-boat rentals and shoreline fishing. Belleplain State Forest has over forty miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding, along with hunting, fishing, camping, stargazing and swimming at Lake Nummy, and is a well-known birding spot, especially during the spring migration. Day trips reach the Atlantic City boardwalk, Ocean City family beaches, and the historic district and lighthouse in Cape May. Storybook Land amusement park in Egg Harbor Township is a common stop for families with young children.

Peak season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when private campgrounds near Mays Landing and the shore book heavily on weekends. Families arriving in July and August should reserve several weeks out, particularly for pull-through and full-hookup RV sites. Biting insects, including greenhead flies and mosquitoes, are most active from late June through August in the marshy areas near tidal creeks. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel. Daytime temperatures are mild, humidity drops, and the Pine Barrens see strong songbird and raptor migration. Electric sites at Belleplain book out quickly on summer and holiday weekends, so the CCC area, which has the water and electric hookups, should be reserved well in advance. Winter options are limited. Most private parks close or reduce services from late October through March, though North Shore closes November 1 through March 31 while Meisle and CCC remain open during winter, so travelers should confirm open loops before booking a shoulder-season trip.

Expect flat, sandy terrain and sites shaded by pitch pine and oak. Private campgrounds in the area typically offer water, electric, and sewer hookups, camp stores, pools, and playgrounds, which suits families renting a Class C or travel trailer for the first time. Cell service is generally reliable near Route 40 and weaker deeper into the Pinelands. State-forest camping is more rustic. At Belleplain, only the CCC area has water and electric hookups, with sites numbered in the 100s, and other loops are tent and trailer sites without utilities. Bring insect repellent, a tick check routine after hikes, and a plan for beach day trips, since shore parking fills early on summer weekends.
