Campgrounds near Flanders, New Jersey
Flanders sits in Mount Olive Township in Morris County, in the rolling Skylands region of northwestern New Jersey. The location puts RV renters within a short drive of the Musconetcong River valley, several state parks in the Allamuchy and Kittatinny ranges, and larger private resort-style campgrounds that cater to weekend travelers from the New York City metro area.
Options close to town cover the full spectrum. Fla-Net Park sits on 13 acres with 105 sites, offering electric, sewer, and water hookups, showers, a playground, a clubhouse, and boating, and typically operates from April 1 through October 15. A short drive west, Stephens State Park runs its campground from April 1 through October 31 and accommodates both tent campers and RVs up to 40 feet, though the road layout and individual sites can be tight for larger rigs.
For a more resort-style stay, Panther Lake Camping Resort offers over 400 RV sites, cabins, and glamping on a 45-acre lake, about 50 miles from New York City, and The Great Divide Campground in Sussex County features wooded and open sites with full hookups available, a heated pool, a private fishing lake, and a full schedule of planned activities in season. Goodland Country Club and Spa rounds out the nearby options with a more amenity-driven setup.
Things to do near Flanders
The surrounding parks are built around water and trails. The Musconetcong River is a short walk downhill from the Stephens State Park campground, accessible by stairs or a path, and the state stocks it with trout. Fishing permits are checked on-site. The Saxton Falls portion of the park sits less than a mile upstream and draws trout anglers, and hiking trails extend into the adjacent Allamuchy Mountain State Park.
Families staying at private resorts get on-site recreation without leaving camp. At Panther Lake, visitors can enjoy the resort's swimming pool, adult hot tub, tennis and basketball courts, miniature golf, horseshoes, shuffleboard and game room, plus the 45-acre lake with a sandy beach and boat rentals. The Great Divide Campground adds a stocked fishing lake, kayaks, and lawn games to the pool and playground mix.
For day trips, historic Morristown, Waterloo Village, and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area are all within about an hour.

Camping around Flanders is a warm-season activity, and most nearby campgrounds close for winter and reopen in spring. Fla-Net Park operates April 1 through October 15, Stephens State Park campsites are open from April 1 through Oct. 31, and Panther Lake Camping Resort closes October 31 and reopens April 15. The Great Divide Campground runs on a similar spring-to-fall schedule with seasonal sites available.
Late spring and early summer bring the wettest weather of the year, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. June tops the wettest month list with 137 mm of rainfall. Ticks and mosquitoes are active in the wooded parks from late spring through early fall, so repellent and tick checks are recommended. July and August are the peak booking window, and holiday weekends at the private resorts fill weeks in advance.
Early fall is often the sweet spot. Bug pressure drops, humidity fades, and October delivers strong foliage color across the Skylands before parks shut down for the season. Winter campers must look outside this cluster of properties, since none in the immediate area stay open through the cold months.

I accept the charges as followed. However I do not accept charge for 4 days. I only had the vehicle for 3 days. I'd like to dispute the 4th day charged for 250.00

How to book campgrounds near Flanders
State park sites use a central system. Online reservations for Stephens State Park can be made at camping.nj.gov. Thirty nine tent and small trailer sites with fire rings and picnic tables are available, so weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day should be booked as early as possible.
Private campgrounds each run their own reservation systems. Fla-Net Park, Panther Lake Camping Resort, and The Great Divide Campground all take bookings directly through their websites or by phone, with deposits typically required at booking. Review each operator's cancellation and early-departure terms before locking in dates, since policies vary by park.
When renting an RV, match rig length to the site. Stephens State Park is best suited to shorter rigs, while Fla-Net Park allows vehicles up to 55 feet and the larger resorts can handle full-size motorhomes and fifth wheels.
What to expect
The area blends developed private parks with a smaller, quieter state-run campground. Fla-Net Park operates as an RV-focused campground accommodating rigs up to 55 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections. The facility provides standard amenities like restrooms with showers, a dump station, and WiFi access. Most sites cluster closely together in the main RV section, while a smaller area accommodates tent campers off to one side. The property sits on elevated ground, giving it more of a developed feel than a wooded setting.
The resort-style parks skew family-heavy and social, with many seasonal residents creating a neighborhood atmosphere alongside weekend visitors. Cell service can be spotty in the surrounding hills, so downloading directions in advance is wise.
Stephens State Park offers the most natural experience of the group, with river sounds, tree cover, and stricter quiet hours, but tighter roads for large rigs.
