Camping near Golden Triangle, New Jersey
Golden Triangle is a census-designated place within Cherry Hill Township in Camden County, roughly bordered by Chapel Avenue, Cuthbert Boulevard, Cooper Landing Road, and Route 70. It sits just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, which makes it a practical base for RV travelers who want city sightseeing paired with rural campgrounds in Gloucester, Camden, Salem, and Burlington counties.
The closest options cluster in the farmland belt south and east of Cherry Hill. Lake Kandle in Washington Township is a private RV-only resort with a spring-fed lake and pool complex, roughly a half hour from downtown Philadelphia. Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday sits about 20 minutes from Camden and downtown Philly. Old Cedar Campground in Monroeville offers full-hookup wooded sites on a working farm with a walking path to a local winery.
For a resort-style family stay, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: South Jersey in Williamstown adds pools, a lake, and character events. For a state-forest experience, Atsion Recreational Area lies deeper in the Pine Barrens within Wharton State Forest.
Things to do around Golden Triangle
Philadelphia is the region's main draw. From any of the Gloucester or Camden County campgrounds, the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, museums, and the USS New Jersey in Camden are within a short drive. The Cherry Hill Mall and the retail corridor along Route 70 sit inside Golden Triangle itself.
Outdoor plans usually push south and east. Wharton State Forest covers roughly 122,000 acres of Pine Barrens with sandy roads, four paddling rivers, the 50-mile Batona Trail, and swimming at Atsion Lake. Batsto Village preserves a former bog-iron and glassmaking town with 33 historic structures.
Family campgrounds handle the on-site entertainment. Lake Kandle centers on a 10-acre spring-fed lake plus an activity pool and Olympic-size pool, while Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: South Jersey runs jumping pillows, gem mining, character meet-ups, and themed weekends. Old Cedar Campground adds mini golf, two fishing areas, and a walking connection to a neighboring winery.

The private campgrounds around Golden Triangle run a defined season rather than year-round operations. Lake Kandle opens on the last Friday of April and closes on the first Sunday of October, Old Cedar Campground runs roughly April through the end of October, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: South Jersey opens in mid-April and closes in early November, with a peak roughly from mid-June through early September.
Summer is the busiest window. Atsion Lake swimming is available only from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day while lifeguards are on duty, and the beach can close temporarily on hot weekends due to crowding. Pool complexes at private parks are the main draw in July and August, when humidity and thunderstorms are common.
Spring and fall are quieter and cooler, with wildflowers and foliage respectively. At Atsion, the family campsites are open all year and the trailer sanitary station is open April through October, while the nine lakeside cabins operate April through October. Winter camping is possible in Wharton State Forest but limited elsewhere in the immediate area.

We had a great experience with RV Cozy Camper. The camper truly lived up to its name — it was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, making our trip relaxing and enjoyable. Everything we needed was thoughtfully provided, and the layout made the space feel welcoming and functional. It was easy to tow and set up, which helped take a lot of stress out of the trip. The attention to detail really showed and made us feel comfortable right away. Communication was smooth and helpful, and any questions we had were answered promptly. Overall, this was a wonderful experience, and we would absolutely recommend RV Cozy Camper to anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable camping option. We would happily use RV Cozy Camper again for future trips!

We had a family reunion out in West Virginia the first week in August. We decided to rent an RV this how I found Rod the owner of the RV. He was very polite and up front we us the whole time. The only down fall is the no pet rule. But we definitely rent from him next year.

We had a blast on our family road trip. "Archie" was easy to drive, clean and comfortable for my family of 3, with room to spare. Rod is a really nice guy and responded quickly to any question we had. We would love to do it again soon

How to book campgrounds near Golden Triangle
Booking systems differ by operator. Wharton State Forest campgrounds, including Atsion, use the state reservation portal at camping.nj.gov, and Atsion requires a two-night minimum. RV sites at Atsion accommodate rigs up to 22 feet only, with no hookups and a shared sanitary station.
Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday books through the KOA site or app and generally requires seven days' notice to cancel RV or tent reservations and 14 days for cabins. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: South Jersey books on Campspot, with holiday weekends filling first. Lake Kandle and Old Cedar Campground handle reservations directly by phone or through their websites; Lake Kandle takes RV, motorhome, and pop-up units only, with no tents and no pets.
For summer holidays, book several months out for lakeside sites and pull-throughs sized for larger rigs.
What to expect on the ground
Terrain is flat. Gloucester and Salem County parks sit in farm country with wooded loops, while Wharton State Forest is deep Pine Barrens with sandy roads that can rut after storms. Cell service is reliable at the private parks near Philadelphia and limited at Atsion.
Hookup expectations vary widely. Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday is big-rig friendly with pull-through and back-in sites and 50/30-amp full hookups. Old Cedar Campground offers 30 and 50-amp sites with water and sewer plus pull-throughs, though water spigots can be shared between sites, so bring extra hose. Lake Kandle provides metered electric hookups but no tent camping and no pets. Atsion has no hookups.
Families should plan around pools and lakes: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: South Jersey has multiple pools and a swimming lake, and Lake Kandle pairs a lake beach with two pools. Bring reusable bags, since New Jersey has eliminated single-use plastic bags at stores.
