Campgrounds and RV parks near Hamburg, NJ

Hamburg sits in Sussex County in the Skylands region of northwestern New Jersey, at the base of the Kittatinny Mountains and within reach of the Appalachian Trail corridor. Nearby Wawayanda State Park spans 34,350 acres across Sussex and Passaic counties in Vernon Township and West Milford, giving RV travelers access to lakes, forested ridges, and long-distance trails. Campground options range from full-service resorts to primitive state-forest sites. Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm, formerly Pleasant Acres Farm RV Resort, sits on a working farm with RV sites and vacation rentals, plus lake access, fishing, a swimming pool, clubhouse, and mini-golf. Kymers Camping Resort and the state-run Stream Mill Area at Stokes State Forest add more choices within a short drive. For tent campers and hikers, Camp Wyanokie provides a rustic base closer to the New Jersey Highlands. Together these properties cover most trip styles, from family resort stays to backcountry-adjacent weekends, all within roughly an hour of Hamburg.

New Jersey state parks and forests use a single reservation portal. Online reservations for Wawayanda State Park can be made at camping.nj.gov, and the same system handles Stokes State Forest sites including the Stream Mill Area. Group sites often require contacting the park office directly. Private resorts book separately. Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm reserves through its own website, while Kymers Camping Resort takes reservations directly through its site. For summer weekends and fall foliage stays, book two to three months ahead where possible. If a preferred date shows unavailable on the state system, the portal allows travelers to create an availability notification that emails an alert when a matching site becomes free.
