Campgrounds and RV parks near Harrington Park, NJ

Harrington Park sits in Bergen County, New Jersey, minutes from the George Washington Bridge and within an easy drive of both the Hudson Highlands and the New York City waterfront. RV travelers use it as a convenient staging point for trips into the surrounding parks of the New York and New Jersey Highlands, where public campgrounds tend to book out on summer weekends. The closest developed RV option is Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City, a full-hookup urban park on the Hudson waterfront. North of town, Beaver Pond Campground sits within Harriman State Park, adjacent to the Lake Welch Recreation Area, roughly an hour from the George Washington Bridge, and Wawayanda State Park offers four group sites reservable through camping.nj.gov, each requiring a minimum of seven persons. For tent-forward options, Camp Wyanokie provides primitive backcountry-style camping in the Norvin Green State Forest area, and Floyd Bennett Field within Gateway National Recreation Area offers 32 tent sites and 20 RV parking sites, showers and sinks with running water.

Reservation systems vary by park agency. New York state park sites, including Beaver Pond at Harriman, are handled through ReserveAmerica. Camping reservations can be made up to 9 months in advance, with sites released at the 9-month window at 8AM Monday through Friday and 9AM Saturday and Sunday from March 15 through Labor Day. Same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on day of arrival for campsites. New Jersey state parks, including Wawayanda, take online reservations at camping.nj.gov. Federal sites use Recreation.gov: reservations at Floyd Bennett Field are made online through the national reservation system. Liberty Harbor takes bookings directly through its own site and by phone.
