Campgrounds near Heathcote
Heathcote is an unincorporated community in South Brunswick Township, Middlesex County, in central New Jersey, roughly halfway between Princeton and New Brunswick. The area sits within easy driving distance of the Delaware River, the northern edge of the Pine Barrens, and the Jersey Shore, giving RV travelers a wide choice of campground styles within about an hour of Route 1 and the New Jersey Turnpike.
Options closest to Heathcote lean toward private RV parks and county-run facilities rather than large federal campgrounds. Crystal Springs Wilderness Lodges and RV Resort and Indian Rock RV Resort and Campground sit near Cream Ridge to the south, while Timberland Lake Campground is a short drive from Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson. Turkey Swamp Park, operated by the Monmouth County Park System, adds a wooded public option in Freehold Township on the northern fringe of the Pine Barrens.
For day trips with an RV base elsewhere, Washington Crossing State Park along the Delaware River lies west of Heathcote. Its four group campsites in the Phillips Farm area have been closed in recent seasons, but the park itself remains open for hiking, paddling, and history-focused visits.
Things to do near Heathcote
Water and trails anchor most trips. Turkey Swamp Park has a 17-acre lake with rental boats and fishing for bass, catfish, and other species with a valid New Jersey fishing license. The park also has about eight miles of multiuse trails through pitch pine and oak woodland on the northern fringe of the Pine Barrens.
Families traveling with kids often build a day around Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, which Crystal Springs Wilderness Lodges and RV Resort lists as roughly two miles from its gate. Indian Rock RV Resort and Campground and Timberland Lake Campground put travelers within reach of the shore towns of Seaside Heights, Belmar, and Point Pleasant.
History travelers head to Washington Crossing State Park, the site where the Continental Army landed after crossing the Delaware in 1776. Trails, picnic areas, an observatory, and interpretive programs run year-round even when camping is not available.

Marc, the owner, and the RV went way beyond my expectations! Marc is super knowledgeable and helpful. The RV had every amenity you could want, was so easy to drive, and very well maintained. Prior to pick up date Marc sent me documentary and video informational instructions that were extremely useful. Marc was always available for any questions whether before or during our trip. We rented the RV for 13 days and traveled pretty far. I have no doubt that because the RV was so comfortable inconvenience. Our trip was effortless. I would definitely rent with Marc again and can’t wait for our next trip!

We had a family reunion out in West Virginia the first week in August. We decided to rent an RV this how I found Rod the owner of the RV. He was very polite and up front we us the whole time. The only down fall is the no pet rule. But we definitely rent from him next year.

We had a blast on our family road trip. "Archie" was easy to drive, clean and comfortable for my family of 3, with room to spare. Rod is a really nice guy and responded quickly to any question we had. We would love to do it again soon

How to book near Heathcote
Reservation systems vary by operator. New Jersey state park campsites, including the group sites at Washington Crossing State Park when they are open, are booked through the state's camping.nj.gov portal. Washington Crossing's four group campsites in the Phillips Farm area have been closed in recent seasons, so confirm status before planning a stay there.
Monmouth County runs its own reservation system for Turkey Swamp Park online at monmouthcountyparks.com or by phone. Full payment is required at booking, and the permit holder must be at least 21 years old. Twelve of the 64 sites are held as first-come, first-served.
Private parks such as Crystal Springs Wilderness Lodges and RV Resort, Timberland Lake Campground, and Indian Rock RV Resort and Campground take reservations directly by phone or through their websites.
