Lambertville sits on the New Jersey bank of the Delaware River in Hunterdon County, directly across from New Hope, Pennsylvania. The area serves as a compact base for RV travelers exploring the central Delaware Valley, with campgrounds clustered on both sides of the river and easy access to the Delaware and Raritan Canal towpath, the Delaware Canal State Park towpath in Pennsylvania, and a chain of state parks within a short drive. Most private campgrounds within a thirty-minute radius sit on the Pennsylvania side in Bucks County. Options include Beaver Valley Campgrounds in Ottsville, Colonial Woods Family Resort in Upper Black Eddy, and Ringing Rocks Family Campground, also in Upper Black Eddy. On the New Jersey side, Mountainview Campground is family-owned and operated since 1953, located about an hour from both New York City and Philadelphia on the south side of the Musconetcong Mountains, only 5 miles from the Delaware River. New Jersey state park campsites, when open, are reserved through the state's central system. Online reservations for New Jersey State Parks are made at camping.nj.gov. Pennsylvania State Parks use the state's reservation portal, and reservations at Washington Crossing Historic Park on the Pennsylvania side follow standard state-park windows. Reservations must be made 3 days ahead of arrival and can be made up to 11 months in advance. Private campgrounds around Lambertville generally handle bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. Beaver Valley, for example, takes reservations by phone at (610) 847-5643. Local private parks often carry a high percentage of seasonal residents, so transient weekend availability tightens quickly. Reserve summer weekends and holiday periods several weeks or months out.
