Campgrounds near Landing, New Jersey
Landing is a lakeside community in Roxbury Township, Morris County, sitting on the southeastern shore of Lake Hopatcong, the largest freshwater body in the state of New Jersey. The area is part of the Skylands Region in the northwestern corner of the state, roughly 50 miles from New York City and easily reached from Interstate 80. RV travelers use it as a base for lake recreation, state park hiking, and Morris Canal heritage sites.
Campground options within a short drive fall into two categories. Private family resorts such as Panther Lake Camping Resort in Andover and The Great Divide Campground in Newton offer full hookups, pools, and planned activities on large wooded properties. Fla-Net Park in Flanders sits closest to Landing and functions primarily as a full-hookup RV park just off the I-80 corridor.
For state-park camping, Stephens State Park along the Musconetcong River in Hackettstown is the nearest option and works well for tents and small trailers. Hopatcong State Park itself is day-use only, so overnight RVers rely on the surrounding private and state campgrounds.
Things to do near Landing
Lake Hopatcong anchors most trip plans. Boating, fishing for bass and pickerel, and swimming are the main draws, and the lake's public access at Hopatcong State Park includes a swimming beach, picnic grounds, and a boat ramp. The remnants of Morris Canal Lock 2 East and interpretive exhibits sit within the park.
Stephens State Park adds trout fishing on the stocked Musconetcong River along with six miles of marked trails for mountain biking, walking and horseback riding. Saxton Falls, less than a mile upstream along Waterloo Road, preserves one of the original Morris Canal locks and a section of towpath.
Day trips fan out easily. Waterloo Village, Allamuchy Mountain State Park, and the Delaware Water Gap sit within an hour, and Morristown National Historical Park to the east preserves Washington's Revolutionary War winter encampment sites.

The camping season in this part of New Jersey is tightly seasonal. Stephens State Park campsites are open from April 1 through Oct. 31, Panther Lake Camping Resort runs April 15 to October 31, and The Great Divide is open May 1st to mid October. Fla-Net Park is open April 1 to October 15.
Summer is peak season. July and August bring warm, humid weather with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, and holiday weekends at private resorts fill early. Weekends in general are noticeably busier than weekdays across all the local campgrounds.
Spring and fall are quieter and better for RVers who want space. Late April and May can be wet, and nights stay cold into mid-May. September and early October deliver crisp mornings, warm afternoons, and strong fall foliage across the Skylands, but water features at private resorts often close after Labor Day. Winter camping is not available at the nearby campgrounds.

I accept the charges as followed. However I do not accept charge for 4 days. I only had the vehicle for 3 days. I'd like to dispute the 4th day charged for 250.00

How to book
State-park sites at Stephens State Park are reserved through New Jersey's official system at camping.nj.gov. The park has thirty-nine tent and small trailer sites with fire rings and picnic tables, and the posted maximum trailer length is 40 ft, so large motorhomes should call the park office at 908-852-3790 to confirm access.
Private campgrounds book directly. Panther Lake Camping Resort, The Great Divide Campground, and Fla-Net Park all take reservations by phone or through their own websites, and summer weekends should be booked well in advance. Cancellation policies at the private resorts tend to be strict, so read the terms before paying a deposit.
What to expect on-site
Site types vary widely. Panther Lake features a 45-acre lake on 160 scenic acres just 50 miles from New York City, with a swimming pool, sand beach, miniature golf, playgrounds, and a general store. The Great Divide is a family campground on 100 acres in the Skylands region of Sussex County with 270 wooded and open sites, a heated pool, playground, game room, free kayaks, and a stocked fishing lake, offering water, 30 amp electric and sewer sites or pump outs.
Fla-Net Park has 30 and 50 amp electrical hookups, water and sewer connections, pull-through sites for larger RVs, a swimming pool, playground, laundry facilities, showers, restrooms, and a dump station, positioned close to shopping and dining rather than deep woods.
Stephens State Park is rustic by comparison: fire rings and picnic tables at each site, with flush toilets and showers within walking distance, and no RV hookups.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Landing, NJ
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Landing, NJ?
RV rental in Landing is more affordable than many travelers expect, with most travel trailers starting around $90 to $150 per night and Class C motorhomes typically running $175 to $300 per night during peak summer. Campervan rental Landing options often land in the $125 to $225 range and are a great pick for couples exploring Lake Hopatcong. To score a cheap RV rental in Landing, target May or late September shoulder weeks when nightly rates drop noticeably and Skylands traffic thins out. Pro tip: filter for travel trailers with weekly discounts, since many Lake Hopatcong hosts offer 10 to 20 percent off bookings of five nights or more, leaving more budget for boat rentals at the state park marina.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Landing,%20New%20JerseyWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Landing, New Jersey?
Good news for first time renters in Landing: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Landing, NJ. New Jersey does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for the Class A, Class B, Class C, travel trailer, or fifth wheel rentals you will find on RVezy. The primary driver must generally be at least 25 years old, and your ID is verified through the RVezy platform during checkout. Visiting from overseas? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home country license. Most renters complete verification quickly and move straight to packing for Lake Hopatcong.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my RV rental in Landing covered by insurance and roadside assistance?
Every RV rental in Landing booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Route 80 with confidence. The protection plan covers accidental damage to the vehicle, and you choose your coverage level during the booking process (not the host), so you can pick exactly what fits your trip and budget. Roadside assistance covers flat tires, lockouts, jump starts, and towing if something goes sideways on the way to Lake Hopatcong or Mahlon Dickerson Reservation. Pro tip: review the coverage details at checkout so you know exactly what is protected before you drive off.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat is the cancellation policy if my Landing RV trip plans change?
Booking your Landing RV trip is lower risk than you might think because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy for every rental. There is a money-back grace period right after booking, with additional refund options depending on how far out from your trip you cancel. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy provides a refund or travel credit. Because Lake Hopatcong weather can shift in spring and fall, this flexibility is genuinely useful. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best Skylands rigs, and review the current cancellation terms on the RVezy Help Center before you confirm so you know your options.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Landing?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Landing options are plentiful, with many hosts welcoming dogs (and sometimes cats) for a small cleaning fee. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see only listings that allow your four-legged co-pilot. Once you're rolling, Lake Hopatcong is a fantastic dog destination: Mahlon Dickerson Reservation has over 20 miles of leashed-dog-friendly trails, and the state park's lakeside lawns are perfect for a sniff-and-stroll. Nearby Allamuchy Mountain State Park also welcomes leashed pups on its trails. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm size limits and ask for tips on the closest pet-friendly patios in Hopatcong, like the lakeside spots along Nolans Point.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/mahlon.htmlCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Landing?
Yes, RV delivery Landing is one of the most popular options on the platform, and it's a game-changer if you're new to RVing. Many Landing-area hosts will drive the rig directly to Mahlon Dickerson Reservation, Panther Lake Camping Resort, or even a private driveway on Lake Hopatcong, level it, hook it up, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery fees typically run $2 to $4 per mile from the host's location, with some offering flat rates within Morris and Sussex counties. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see who offers it. Pro tip: ask for setup-and-pickup service so you can simply arrive, unpack, and start your Lake Hopatcong adventure with zero driving stress.
morrisparks.net/index.php/parks/mahlon-dickerson-reservationHow far can I drive on an RV rental from Landing, and is there unlimited mileage?

From Landing, popular drives include Lake Hopatcong loops (under 10 miles), the Delaware Water Gap (about 35 miles west), High Point State Park (45 miles north), the Jersey Shore at Asbury Park (about 75 miles), and the Catskills (around 90 miles north). Pro tip: filter for unlimited mileage listings if you are planning a multi-state loop, the math works in your favor fast.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Landing,%20New%20JerseyWhere are the best campgrounds near Landing, NJ?

Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Lake Hopatcong (just 5 miles away) offers 18 paved RV sites with 20/30/50-amp electric, seasonal water, and a dump station, accommodating rigs up to 44 feet. Panther Lake Camping Resort in Andover has full hookups, a swimming lake, and family activities. Fla-Net Park Campground in Flanders is another nearby Morris County favorite. For a more rustic feel, Stephens State Park in Hackettstown sits along the Musconetcong River about 15 miles west. Note that Hopatcong State Park itself is day-use only with no overnight camping. Pro tip: book Mahlon Dickerson early, as its 30 sites fill fast for summer weekends.
morrisparks.net/index.php/parks/mahlon-dickerson-reservationWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Landing, NJ?
Landing shines from late May through mid-October, with a hidden bonus in fall. Summer (June to August) brings warm 75 to 85°F days perfect for swimming and boating on Lake Hopatcong, with lifeguards on duty at Hopatcong State Park from Memorial Day through Labor Day. September and October are the local insider pick: crisp 50 to 70°F days, fiery Skylands foliage, smaller crowds, and lower nightly rates. Spring (April to May) is great for trout fishing as the state stocks Lake Hopatcong and Lake Musconetcong with brown, rainbow, and brook trout. Winter RV camping Landing is possible if you choose a four-season rig, with ice fishing for perch and pickerel a beloved local tradition. Pro tip: target the last week of September for peak foliage.
weather.gov/phi/I'm a first time renter, will I know how to operate the RV?
First time renting an RV in Landing? You are in great hands. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at delivery) covering generator, slide-outs, water and waste systems, propane, leveling, and driving tips, usually 30 to 60 minutes. You can message the host before booking with any questions, and many keep a printed cheat sheet in the rig. RVezy's 24/7 support is just a phone call away if you forget something at 9 p.m. at your Mahlon Dickerson site. Pro tip: start with a travel trailer or Class C motorhome rental in Landing rather than a 35-foot Class A, and ask the host for a quick photo tour of the dashboard and dump valves before you leave the driveway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002342453-RentersWhat happens if I break down during my Landing RV trip?
Take a breath: every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you are on Route 80, parked at Panther Lake, or rolling through the Delaware Water Gap. Covered services include flat tire help, jump starts, fuel delivery, lockout assistance, and towing to the nearest qualified repair shop. RVezy's support team can also coordinate directly with your host to resolve mechanical issues fast. Most Landing-area incidents are minor, like a tripped breaker or a propane reset. Pro tip: save the RVezy roadside number in your phone before you leave the driveway, and snap a photo of the rig's VIN and license plate so you can share details quickly if you ever need to call.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Landing RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, an RV road trip from Landing is one of the best ways to explore the Northeast, and interstate travel is welcome with most hosts. Popular multi-state loops include New York's Catskills and Adirondacks, Vermont's Green Mountains, the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, and the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Cross-border trips to Canada (think Niagara Falls or Montreal) are allowed by some hosts but require advance approval and paperwork, so message the host before booking. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance does not extend there. Pro tip: if you're eyeing Canada, ask your host to provide a written travel authorization letter and confirm protection coverage applies for the dates you'll be across the border.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goHow much should I budget for fuel on an RV trip from Landing?
Fuel is the biggest variable in your Landing RV budget, but it's easy to plan. New Jersey gas prices typically run a bit above the national average, and as of recent months regular unleaded averages around $3.20 to $3.50 per gallon in Morris County. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A rigs 6 to 10 MPG. A 200-mile weekend loop to High Point and back in a Class C will run roughly $60 to $90 in fuel. Pro tip: in New Jersey, gas station attendants pump your gas for you (it's the only state that still requires it), so factor in a quick tip and use the Wawa or QuickChek stations along Route 80 for the most consistent pricing.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Landing?
For summer weekends near Landing, book your campground as soon as your RV rental is confirmed, ideally 3 to 6 months out. Mahlon Dickerson Reservation reservations open through the Morris County Parks system and fill quickly for Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day. Private parks like Panther Lake Camping Resort and Fla-Net Park accept reservations up to a year in advance for prime sites. State parks across New Jersey use the ReserveNJStateParks system, which opens bookings on a rolling basis. Mid-week stays are far easier to grab on short notice. Pro tip: if a holiday weekend looks fully booked, check back on Sunday and Monday evenings when other travelers often cancel and prime full-hookup sites open up at the last minute.
newjerseystateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are driving conditions like around Landing, NJ?
Driving an RV around Landing is very manageable, even for first-timers. Interstate 80 runs just minutes from town and gives you wide lanes straight to Pennsylvania or New York City, while Route 15 and Route 46 connect you to local lakes and parks. Watch for two local quirks: low bridges and tunnels on older parkways (the Garden State Parkway and Palisades Parkway both restrict RVs in places, so stick to I-80 and I-287), and tight, hilly back roads around Lake Hopatcong's shoreline. Winter brings occasional snow and ice from December through March. Pro tip: avoid driving into Manhattan in any RV (commercial vehicle restrictions apply), and use the Park-and-Ride lots in Netcong if you want to train into the city for a day.
state.nj.us/transportation/commuter/roads/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Landing?
Campgrounds near Landing offer a solid mix of full-service and rustic options. Mahlon Dickerson Reservation provides 20/30/50-amp electric and seasonal water hookups (April through October), a shared dump station, hot showers, and flush toilets, though there are no individual sewer hookups. Private parks like Panther Lake and Fla-Net offer full hookups including sewer, plus pools, laundry, and camp stores. For freshwater fills and dumps mid-trip, the Mahlon Dickerson dump station is the most convenient public option in the immediate Lake Hopatcong area. Hopatcong State Park itself is day-use only, but it's great for swimming and boat launches. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-safe water hose and a sewer hose support kit, since site spacing at Skylands campgrounds varies more than in commercial RV resorts.
morrisparks.net/index.php/parks/mahlon-dickerson-reservationWhat's typically included inside a Landing RV rental?
Landing-area rentals come surprisingly well-equipped. Expect a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink, and basic cookware; a bathroom with toilet and shower (in Class B, Class C, Class A, travel trailer, and fifth wheel rigs); sleeping for 2 to 8 depending on layout; air conditioning and propane furnace; and seatbelts for legal passengers. Most hosts include linens, towels, and a starter kit of paper goods. Many travel trailers and motorhomes also include a generator, an outdoor awning, and a TV; Wi-Fi is occasionally available as an add-on hotspot. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities section for items like camp chairs, a Blackstone griddle, or kayaks, which many Lake Hopatcong hosts throw in free, perfect for evenings by the water.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/rving-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup logistics should I know about for renting an RV in Landing?
Hosts in Landing offer a fun menu of add-ons that can elevate your trip. Common extras include kitchen and linen kits ($25 to $75), generators (often included, sometimes $15 to $30 per night), bike racks, kayak or SUP rentals, propane fills, and pet cleaning ($25 to $75). Pickup is typically at the host's home base in Morris County, with most hosts offering a 30 to 60-minute orientation. Delivery to Mahlon Dickerson or a local driveway is widely available for a mileage-based fee. Mileage policies vary by host (100 to 150 miles per night is common, with unlimited mileage options available). Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linen kit on your first booking; it costs a little more but turns your Lake Hopatcong RV trip into a true plug-and-play getaway.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/hopatcong.htmlHow does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Landing?
Payment for your Landing RV rental is simple and secure: you pay directly through RVezy with a credit or debit card at the time of booking, and your funds are held safely until the trip begins. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, not charged outright, and released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To avoid any issues, take date-stamped photos of the interior and exterior at pickup and again at drop-off, follow the mileage and generator-hour limits in the listing, and dump the tanks before return if required. Pro tip: ask the host any deposit questions in the RVezy message thread so everything is documented in one place.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat are the best road trip destinations from Landing, NJ?
Landing is a launchpad for some of the Northeast's best drives. Top picks include the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (about 35 miles west, perfect for a weekend of hiking and tubing), High Point State Park with New Jersey's highest elevation (45 miles north, 90 minutes), the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania (about 60 miles, great for waterfalls and lakeside camping), Asbury Park and the Jersey Shore (75 miles south, around 90 minutes), and the Catskills in New York (90 miles north, roughly 2 hours). For a family RV trip Landing classic, the Lake Hopatcong loop with stops at Hopatcong State Park, Nolans Point, and Mount Arlington is hard to beat. Pro tip: line up the Delaware Water Gap on a weekday, the Worthington State Forest river views are stunning without weekend crowds.
