Campgrounds and RV parks near Liberty Corner, NJ

Outdoor activity centers on hiking, paddling, and trout fishing. Stephens State Park has nearly a mile of Musconetcong River frontage that the state stocks with trout, along with six miles of marked trails used for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Voorhees State Park offers eleven multi-use trails, overlooks facing Round Valley and Spruce Run Reservoirs, and the Paul H. Robinson Observatory, operated by the New Jersey Astronomical Association, which runs public stargazing programs on select evenings. Families with kids often route to Panther Lake Camping Resort, which sits on a private lake with swimming, boating, and fishing on site. Day trips from Liberty Corner also reach the Delaware Water Gap, the Appalachian Trail, and New York City, roughly forty-five minutes to an hour away.

The camping calendar in this part of New Jersey is compressed. State-run campgrounds at Stephens State Park and Voorhees State Park run from April 1 through the end of October, and Panther Lake operates on a similar spring-to-fall schedule. Fla-Net Park keeps a longer season, which makes it a practical option outside the main window. Spring brings trout stocking and cool nights, with mud and occasional storm damage lingering into April. Summer is peak season: humid, warm, and busy, with weekends at private resorts and popular state sites booking well in advance. Biting insects and ticks are active from late spring through early fall, and campers on protected land should plan for regular tick checks. Black bear activity is also present in northern New Jersey parks, so food storage rules apply. Fall delivers the region's most comfortable camping weather and hardwood color, typically peaking in mid to late October. Winter closes most parks, though day-use trails at Stephens and Voorhees remain open for cross-country skiing when snow allows.

Site size and access vary widely. Stephens State Park accepts RVs up to 40 feet on paper, but reviewers note that internal roads and individual sites are tight, and larger Class A motorhomes and fifth wheels can struggle to maneuver. There are no hookups or on-site dump station at Stephens. Voorhees State Park offers tent sites plus a small number of sites that can fit a trailer, with no electric or water hookups at the campsites, though a dump station is available. Private parks are built around bigger rigs, with full-hookup RV sites, cabins, and tent spaces on wooded acreage at Panther Lake Camping Resort. Cell service can be spotty in wooded state park loops, so directions and reservation confirmations are best downloaded before arrival.
