Campgrounds near Lincoln Park, New Jersey
Lincoln Park sits in Morris County in northern New Jersey, within roughly an hour's drive of both Manhattan and the Highlands region. That geography gives RV travelers two very different camping worlds within easy reach: wooded state parks in the Highlands and Ramapo Mountains to the north and west, and urban waterfront camping to the east near Jersey City.
To the north, Camp Wyanokie sits at the edge of Norvin Green State Forest, though it is a rustic tent-only property and does not accommodate RVs. Wawayanda State Park draws hikers, campers, swimmers and paddlers, with forested hills surrounding Wawayanda Lake and a 19.6-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail running through the park. Just over the New York line, Beaver Pond Campground adjoins the Lake Welch Recreation Area within Harriman State Park, offering a beach and outdoor activities not far from New York City.
For a full-hookup RV experience, Black Bear Campground in Orange County, New York and Liberty Harbor RV Park on the Jersey City waterfront are the closest options with power, water and sewer service.
Things to do near Lincoln Park
Hiking dominates the region. Wawayanda State Park has over 60 miles of well-marked trails plus a 19.6-mile section of the Appalachian Trail restricted to hiking only, with additional routes open to mountain biking and horseback riding. Harriman State Park offers more than 200 miles of trails maintained by the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, along with 31 lakes and multiple streams, and activities including swimming, fishing, paddling, and hiking.
Anglers can target bass, pickerel, trout, and landlocked salmon in Wawayanda Lake, one of the few deep New Jersey lakes with year-round cold-water habitat. Families staying at Liberty Harbor RV Park can walk or ride transit into Manhattan, with a ferry to Wall Street and the PATH train both within easy reach of the sites.

The camping calendar in the New Jersey Highlands follows a familiar northeastern pattern. Most state park campgrounds run from spring through fall; the campground at Wawayanda State Park is open April 1 through October 31. Spring brings mud, wildflowers and cool nights, while summer means warm days, active swim beaches and the busiest weekends.
Spring and summer are the busiest seasons in Harriman and the best times for paddling and swimming in the lakes. Weekends near New York City fill fast, and holiday weekends at Beaver Pond can be crowded, with reviewers noting large groups and generator noise despite posted quiet hours. Booking midweek stays or shoulder-season dates in late spring and early fall usually yields quieter sites and better weather for hiking.
Winter narrows the options. Wawayanda sits at an elevation of 1,140 feet and receives significant snow, with cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling permitted on designated trails. Liberty Harbor RV Park and Black Bear Campground stay open year-round, making them the practical choices for cold-weather RV trips when state park campgrounds are closed.

I accept the charges as followed. However I do not accept charge for 4 days. I only had the vehicle for 3 days. I'd like to dispute the 4th day charged for 250.00

How to book campgrounds near Lincoln Park
New Jersey state park sites, including Wawayanda, are booked through the state's reservation portal at camping.nj.gov, and popular summer weekends sell out well ahead. For the New York side, Beaver Pond reservations can be made for today and up to 9 months in advance, and same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival for campsites. Booking is handled through ReserveAmerica or the ReserveAmerica call center.
Private parks use their own systems. Camp Wyanokie is a rustic tent property with reservations handled directly by the operator, and Liberty Harbor RV Park and Black Bear Campground both take direct bookings by phone or their websites. Reserve holiday weekends and July or August dates as early as the window allows.
What to expect at area campgrounds
Amenities vary widely by campground. Camp Wyanokie is rustic and tent-only, with no RV accommodations, no electric or water hookups, and only basic pit facilities. Beaver Pond offers campsites for up to two tents and six persons per site, with select sites accommodating a trailer or RV up to 30 ft, picnic tables and fire rings with flip-top grills, and shared full-service bathrooms centrally located. There are no electrical hookups for trailers, and alcohol is not permitted; pets are also not allowed.
Full-hookup RV parks are a different experience. Black Bear RV Park offers full hook-up sites, 50-amp service, back-in and pull-thru sites, is family and pet friendly, and does not allow tent camping. Liberty Harbor operates as a fenced section within a marina parking area with basic hookups on level gravel surfaces, and sites sit close together.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Lincoln Park, NJ
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Lincoln Park, NJ?
An RV rental in Lincoln Park is one of the most flexible vacation values in northern New Jersey. Travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range from about $175 to $275, and larger Class A rigs run roughly $250 to $400. Pricing depends on the season, the host, and add-ons like generators or bike racks. To find a cheap RV rental in Lincoln Park, book midweek, travel in shoulder months like April, May, late September, or October, and filter by travel trailers, which are typically the most affordable category on RVezy. Many local hosts also offer weekly discounts of 10 to 20 percent, so a 7-night Jersey Shore or Poconos trip can drop the nightly rate significantly.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lincoln%20Park%2C%20New%20JerseyDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Lincoln Park, NJ?
Great news for first-time renters: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Lincoln Park. New Jersey does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes, campervans, or travel trailers, even for larger Class A rigs used recreationally. You'll need to be at least 25 years old to book on RVezy, and your ID is verified securely through the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association. That's it, no extra tests, no DMV trip, just pick up the keys and start your New Jersey RV trip.
nj.gov/mvc/license/dlclasses.htmWhat protection comes with my RV rental in Lincoln Park?
You are covered from day one. Every RV rental in Lincoln Park booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Route 80 or I-287 with confidence. During checkout you choose your level of coverage, and that plan helps protect you against most accidental damage to the RV during your trip. Coverage details and limits vary by plan tier, so review the protection plan summary before booking. For trips into the Poconos or Catskills where mountain roads and tree branches can surprise you, a higher tier plan offers extra peace of mind.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if my plans change? Can I cancel my Lincoln Park RV rental?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation, not individual hosts, and there is a grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates without stress. Refund eligibility after that depends on how far out your trip is and the cancellation policy applied to your booking. If your plans change, contact RVezy support and they will walk you through your options. Book early to secure the best Lincoln Park motorhomes, you can always adjust your plans later within the policy window.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Lincoln Park?
Yes, your dog is welcome on the adventure. Plenty of hosts offer a pet-friendly RV rental in Lincoln Park, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see them instantly. Some hosts charge a small pet fee to cover extra cleaning, and most ask that pets be crated when unattended. Dogs love nearby spots like Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area in Montville with leashed trails about 10 minutes away, and pet-friendly campsites at Worthington State Forest along the Delaware River. Message the host before booking to confirm size or breed preferences, most are flexible and many are pet owners themselves.
dep.nj.gov/parksandforests/policies/pets-in-parks/Can the RV be delivered to me in Lincoln Park?
Yes, and it's a game-changer for first-timers. RV delivery in Lincoln Park is offered by many local hosts, who will drive the rig to your home, a nearby campground, or even a tailgate spot and set it up for you, levelers down, slides out, water and power connected. This is especially popular for travelers heading to Worthington State Forest, Camp Taylor Campground, or Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, where backing in a large rig can intimidate new drivers. Delivery fees usually run $2 to $4 per mile from the host's location. Pro tip: filter listings by Delivery on RVezy and message the host to confirm setup is included, most include a full walkthrough on arrival.
nps.gov/dewa/planyourvisit/camping.htmHow far can I drive on my Lincoln Park RV trip?
You have serious range from Lincoln Park. Most hosts include 100 to 150 miles per day, and many offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for longer road trips. From Lincoln Park you are roughly 30 miles to New York City, 45 miles to the Delaware Water Gap, 75 miles to the Pocono Mountains, 90 miles to Philadelphia, and about 150 miles to Cape May at the southern tip of the Jersey Shore. Extra miles typically cost $0.30 to $0.45 each if you exceed the limit. If you are planning a Lincoln Park RV trip up to the Catskills or down to Atlantic City, ask the host upfront about an unlimited-mile add-on, it is often cheaper to bundle.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lincoln%20Park%2C%20New%20JerseyWhere are the best campgrounds near Lincoln Park, NJ?
You're spoiled for choice within a short drive. The best campgrounds near Lincoln Park include Worthington State Forest Campground (about 50 minutes west, 78 riverfront sites along the Delaware), Camp Taylor Campground in Columbia (a private favorite with full hookups and the Lakota Wolf Preserve next door), Stokes State Forest near Branchville (45 minutes north, wooded sites and great hiking), Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Jefferson Township (the closest at just 15 minutes, with electric RV sites and Morris County's highest point), and Panther Lake Camping Resort in Andover with pool, lake, and full hookups. Pro tip: Mahlon Dickerson is perfect for a first-night shakedown trip before heading farther afield.
dep.nj.gov/parksandforests/parks/campreserv/When is the best time for RV camping in Lincoln Park?
Late spring through mid-fall is the sweet spot for RV camping in Lincoln Park. May through October offers daytime highs from the upper 60s to mid 80s Fahrenheit and cool comfortable nights, perfect for the Delaware Water Gap or Jersey Shore. September and October are arguably the best, fall foliage in the Skylands region peaks in mid-October, and crowds thin out after Labor Day. Summers (July to August) are warm and humid with occasional thunderstorms, so AC matters. Winter trips (December to March) are possible with four-season rigs but expect lows in the teens and 20s. Pro tip: book a Columbus Day weekend rental for peak Appalachian foliage, the views from Mt. Tammany are unbeatable.
weather.gov/phi/I've never rented an RV before. Will I know what to do?
You'll be in great hands. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water tanks, propane, dump procedure, and driving tips specific to their rig. First time renting an RV? Lincoln Park is actually an ideal launchpad: nearby roads like Route 23 and Route 287 are wide and easy to practice on, and Mahlon Dickerson Reservation is just 15 minutes away for a quick shakedown night. Most hosts share a phone or text line so you can reach them mid-trip with questions. Pro tip: do your pickup walkthrough with your phone recording video, you'll be glad you have a reference when it's time to switch propane tanks at sunset.
nps.gov/dewa/planyourvisit/things2do.htmWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
Help is one call away. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and mechanical breakdowns whether you are parked at Worthington State Forest or rolling down I-80 toward the Delaware Water Gap. You also have a direct line to your host and RVezy customer support before, during, and after your trip. Northern New Jersey has a dense network of service stations and RV dealers, so parts and repairs are rarely far. Save the roadside assistance number in your phone contacts before you leave the driveway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trips from Lincoln Park?
You are perfectly positioned for a classic RV road trip from Lincoln Park. Popular routes include the Delaware Water Gap loop about 45 miles away for riverfront camping and Mt. Tammany hikes, the Pocono Mountains roughly 75 miles to Jim Thorpe and Promised Land State Park, the Jersey Shore run down to Cape May about 150 miles via the Garden State Parkway, the Catskills and Hudson Valley around 90 miles north for fall foliage, and the Finger Lakes about 250 miles for a long weekend of wineries. Travel into New York and Pennsylvania is generally allowed, while cross-border trips to Canada or Mexico require host approval and may not be covered, so confirm with your host and RVezy before booking. A 4-day Pocono loop is an ideal first-timer trip.
visitnj.org/nj-road-tripsWhat should I budget for fuel on a Lincoln Park RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable, but it's predictable. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 MPG, and large Class A rigs 6 to 10 MPG. New Jersey gas prices typically hover around $3.20 to $3.60 per gallon (one of the lower averages in the Northeast), and the state still has full-service pumps, so an attendant will fuel up for you. For a typical 4-day, 400-mile Pocono loop in a Class C, plan on roughly $130 to $180 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in New Jersey before crossing into Pennsylvania or New York, both are noticeably more expensive, and watch for low-clearance gas station canopies in urban areas.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Lincoln Park?
Earlier is better, but you have options. New Jersey State Park campgrounds like Worthington, Stokes, and High Point take reservations in advance through the state reservation system, and summer weekends along the Delaware River often book out 3 to 6 months ahead. Private parks like Camp Taylor and Panther Lake usually have more flexibility, sometimes 2 to 4 weeks out, especially midweek. For peak fall foliage weekends in October, lock in your spot by July. If you are flexible, watch for cancellations, which often open up about 2 weeks before arrival.
camping.nj.gov/What are driving conditions like around Lincoln Park, NJ?
Driving an RV around Lincoln Park is very manageable once you know the local quirks. You are at the crossroads of Route 23, I-287, and I-80, all RV-friendly highways with wide lanes. The Garden State Parkway restricts certain vehicles based on weight and type on portions of the route, and the Palisades Interstate Parkway prohibits commercial and most large RVs, so plan to use the New Jersey Turnpike or I-287 instead. The Lincoln Tunnel and Holland Tunnel prohibit propane-equipped RVs, so use the George Washington Bridge or the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge when heading to or around NYC. Watch for low clearances in older Morris County towns. Use an RV-specific GPS app to auto-avoid restricted parkways and low bridges.
njta.com/travel-resources/rules-regulationsWhat amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Lincoln Park?
Most campgrounds within an hour of Lincoln Park offer everything you need for a smooth RV camping trip. Private parks like Panther Lake and Camp Taylor provide full hookups (water, 30/50 amp electric, sewer), dump stations, hot showers, laundry, and WiFi. New Jersey State Forest campgrounds like Worthington and Stokes are more rustic, expect potable water spigots, flush toilets, hot showers, and dump stations, but no individual site hookups. You can fill fresh water and dump tanks at the park entrance before leaving. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank before heading into state forest sites and bring a 25-foot extension cord plus a water pressure regulator, they make any setup easier.
dep.nj.gov/parksandforests/parks/campreserv/What's actually inside the RVs available in Lincoln Park?
More than you'd expect. Most motorhome rental Lincoln Park listings come fully equipped: a queen or king bed, bunk options, a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, dining area that converts to extra sleeping space, AC and furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and an onboard generator for off-grid stays. Campervan rental Lincoln Park options (Class B Sprinters and Winnebago Solis builds) are compact but include kitchenettes, wet baths, and pop-tops. Pro tip: check each listing's amenity list for solar, WiFi hotspot, and bike racks, popular add-ons that make Pocono and Catskill trips even better.
nps.gov/dewa/planyourvisit/camping.htmWhat add-ons and options can I get with my Lincoln Park RV rental?
Lots of useful extras to customize your trip. Common add-ons from Lincoln Park hosts include generator usage ($3 to $5 per hour), kitchen kits ($35 to $75 per trip), bedding packages ($25 to $50), bike racks, camp chairs, propane refills, portable grills, and pet packages. Delivery and setup is a popular option (typically $2 to $4 per mile). Pickup and dropoff usually happens at the host's location in Lincoln Park or nearby Morris County towns like Wayne, Boonton, or Pequannock, with standard windows around 1 pm pickup and 11 am return. Mileage policies vary, ask about unlimited mileage if you're planning a longer loop. Pro tip: bundling kitchen kit + bedding saves a Walmart run on day one.
visitnj.org/things-to-do/outdoors/campingHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. When you rent an RV in Lincoln Park through RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host. A security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, with the amount set by the host based on the RV, and it is released after a clean return with no damage or excess mileage. Document the RV condition at pickup with photos and video to avoid disputes, your host will do the same. Take a short walkaround video on pickup and return day, it is the single best way to protect your deposit on any Lincoln Park RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksIs winter RV rental possible in Lincoln Park, NJ?
Yes, and it is an underrated adventure. While the busy season runs April to October, several Lincoln Park hosts offer four-season RVs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and proper furnaces, making winter trips genuinely comfortable. Northern New Jersey winters bring lows in the teens to 20s Fahrenheit and occasional snow, so you will want shore power at a private park that stays open year-round rather than dry camping. Most New Jersey state forest campgrounds reduce services or close from late fall through early spring, so confirm dates directly with the park. A winter family RV trip from Lincoln Park, paired with a Pocono ski day at Camelback and a cozy hookup site back at base, is one of the region's best-kept secrets.
