Campgrounds and RV parks near Macopin, NJ

Macopin sits in West Milford Township in Passaic County, in the wooded Highlands region of northern New Jersey. The surrounding landscape is defined by reservoirs, ridgelines, and public forest, with Wawayanda State Park covering 34,350 acres across Sussex and Passaic counties just north of town. RV renters use Macopin as a base for hiking, paddling, and lake access without leaving the New York City metro drive radius. Campground options in the immediate area range from rustic tent-oriented sites to full-hookup private parks. Camp Wyanokie sits on 150 acres of forest at the edge of Norvin Green State Forest with a five-acre lake, offers more than ten rustic campsites plus a covered picnic pavilion and two outhouses, and has no running water, toilets, electricity, or WiFi. For RV travelers who need hookups, Black Bear Campground and Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm are the practical choices, while Fla-Net Park serves smaller-scale and group camping. Wawayanda State Park anchors the region for state-run camping, with group sites bookable through the New Jersey state reservation portal.

State-park camping in the area runs through New Jersey's central reservation portal. Online reservations for Wawayanda State Park can be made at camping.nj.gov, and the park has four group sites with picnic tables, fire rings, and a composting restroom. Those group sites require a minimum of seven people, so solo RV travelers should look to private parks instead. Camp Wyanokie takes all reservations online through its partner Campspot, with no on-site staff and no phone bookings, and a paid reservation is required for campsites and the picnic pavilion. Black Bear Campground, Fla-Net Park, and Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm each manage bookings through their own reservation systems. Summer weekends fill weeks in advance, so lock in dates early and confirm rig-length limits, hookup type, and check-in windows when reserving.
