Campgrounds and RV parks near Madison, NJ

Madison sits in Morris County in northern New Jersey, roughly 30 miles west of Manhattan. The town itself is residential, so RV renters typically base their trip at campgrounds scattered across the surrounding Skylands region and the Hudson waterfront. Options range from urban RV parking with skyline views to wooded lake resorts in Sussex and Morris counties. Close-in choices include Fla-Net Park in Flanders, a full-hookup RV campground just off Interstate 80, and Camp Wyanokie in West Milford, a 150-acre rustic tent property adjacent to Norvin Green State Forest. Farther afield, Panther Lake Camping Resort occupies 160 wooded acres around a 45-acre lake in Byram Township, and Goodland Country Club and Spa offers another regional stay. For travelers whose trip centers on New York City rather than the outdoors, Liberty Harbor RV Park sits on the Jersey City waterfront with views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island from many sites. The mix lets renters pair a city day trip with a forest stay in a single itinerary.

Booking systems vary by property. Camp Wyanokie takes reservations only through its website, using the Campspot platform, and there is no customer service phone number or on-site staff. All reservations must be made before 5 p.m. on the date of check-in, and stays must be for a total of seven days or less. Fla-Net Park and Panther Lake Camping Resort accept reservations by phone and through their own websites, with deposits generally required and holiday weekends carrying a three-night minimum at Fla-Net Park. Liberty Harbor RV Park takes reservations by phone or through its site and allows 24-hour check-in even when the office is closed. For state-run land such as Stephens State Park, Allamuchy Mountain State Park, and campgrounds within the Delaware Water Gap area, sites are handled through the New Jersey State Park Service reservation system at camping.nj.gov. Book state-park sites well in advance for summer weekends.
