Campgrounds and RV parks near New Vernon, NJ

New Vernon sits in the Great Swamp area of Morris County, roughly an hour west of Manhattan and within easy reach of the New Jersey Highlands and Skylands region. RV renters use it as a base for lake camping, state park trails, and the preserved landscape around the Musconetcong and Passaic river corridors. Options run from full-service private resorts to rustic public sites. Fla-Net Park and Goodland Country Club and Spa handle short getaways close to town, while Panther Lake Camping Resort is a 45-acre family-friendly destination in Andover, positioned about 50 miles from New York City, with more than 400 RV sites and hookup options. Stephens State Park, managed along the Musconetcong River near Hackettstown, offers state-run sites, and Camp Wyanokie provides primitive tent camping adjacent to Norvin Green State Forest. Access is straightforward from I-287, I-80, and US-206, though back roads into the Highlands can be tight for larger rigs. Renters towing anything over about 30 feet should confirm site length limits before booking, especially at state park campgrounds.

State park sites use a single centralized system. Online reservations for Stephens State Park can be made at camping.nj.gov. Non-residents pay a higher nightly rate than New Jersey residents, and stay-length rules apply. Private resorts are booked directly. Panther Lake enforces a policy where the choice to leave early does not support a refund, as noted at reservation and in the confirmation, and this policy is not negotiable. Fla-Net Park, Goodland Country Club and Spa, and Camp Wyanokie also take reservations through their own sites. Camp Wyanokie is a rustic camping area and cannot accommodate RVs, with no sites offering running water, flush toilets, electricity, or WiFi. RV renters should filter for hookups and rig-length limits before selecting a site, and book summer weekends several weeks out.
