Campgrounds and RV parks near Pine Brook, NJ

Pine Brook sits in Morris County, New Jersey, within easy reach of the state's Skylands region and the Hudson waterfront. RV travelers use it as a base for both mountain camping in the New Jersey Highlands and urban trips into Manhattan, with drive times to most nearby campgrounds falling between 30 and 75 minutes. Options in the area split into three categories. Public land camping is available at Wawayanda State Park in the Highlands, where the state campground operates from April 1 to October 31. Private RV resorts include Panther Lake Camping Resort, set on 160 wooded acres featuring a 45-acre lake with a sand beach, pool, and general store, and Fla-Net Park for closer-in stays. Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City works as an RV basecamp for visiting New York City without driving into Manhattan, with electric and water hookups plus restrooms, showers, and laundry. Rustic tent camping is available at Camp Wyanokie, a rustic camping area that cannot accommodate RVs and offers no campsites with running water, toilets, electricity or WiFi, just 150 acres of woodlands, a 5 acre lake, and hiking trails.

New Jersey state park sites, including Wawayanda, are booked through the state's centralized system. Online reservations can be made at camping.nj.gov, and campsites can be booked online up to 11 months in advance. Group sites at Wawayanda require a minimum of seven persons and may need direct contact with the park office. Private parks each run their own systems. Panther Lake Camping Resort takes reservations directly through its website, and holiday weekends should be locked in months ahead. Liberty Harbor RV Park takes reservations by phone or through its site. At Camp Wyanokie, all reservations must be done through the online reservation system, and there is no on-site staff. For summer trips, book state park and lakeside private sites at least 8 to 12 weeks out; urban stays at Liberty Harbor also benefit from early booking around major NYC events.
