Port Morris sits in western Morris County, New Jersey, along the Musconetcong River corridor between Lake Hopatcong and Hackettstown. The area falls within the New Jersey Highlands and puts RV travelers within a short drive of both state-run campgrounds and larger private resorts. New York City sits roughly 50 miles east, making the region a practical base for renters who want quiet lake country without a long haul from the metro area. Options close to town range from full-service private parks to basic state park sites. Panther Lake Camping Resort in nearby Andover offers 435 sites on a 45-acre lake spread across 160 wooded acres, while The Great Divide Campground, LLC in Sussex County provides 270 wooded and open sites with full hookups available, an Olympic-sized heated pool, and a two-acre private lake for fishing. Fla-Net Park and Goodland Country Club and Spa round out the closer-in options. For a more rustic stay, Stephens State Park offers 39 sites for tents and small trailers with picnic tables and fire rings, and has no RV hookups or dump stations.

State park sites at Stephens are booked online through New Jersey's centralized reservation system at camping.nj.gov. The portal lets travelers find available park sites, reserve camp sites, and search by location, availability, and park amenities. A call center is also available for phone reservations. Private parks handle their own bookings. Panther Lake Camping Resort, The Great Divide Campground, LLC, Fla-Net Park, and Goodland Country Club and Spa each take reservations directly through their websites or by phone. For summer weekends and holidays, book several weeks to several months ahead, especially for full-hookup pull-through sites that fit larger rentals. Weekday and shoulder-season nights are usually easier to secure on shorter notice.
