Princeton Meadows camping overview
Princeton Meadows sits in central New Jersey's Mercer County, roughly midway between New York City and Philadelphia. The area itself is suburban, but RV renters have access to a cluster of private campgrounds and public parks within an hour's drive, most concentrated to the east in Jackson and Cream Ridge and to the west along the Delaware River.
Private options in the region include Crystal Springs Wilderness Lodges and RV Resort in Cream Ridge, Timberland Lake Campground in Jackson, a family park with more than 200 sites across 54 wooded acres accepting RVs, travel trailers, and tents, and Indian Rock RV Resort and Campground, a family-run park with wooded sites offering water and electric hookups, most with sewer.
For public land, Turkey Swamp Park is a 2,388-acre county park and nature preserve in Freehold Township operated by the Monmouth County Park System, and Washington Crossing State Park, NJ sits along the Delaware River north of Trenton.
Things to do near Princeton Meadows
Six Flags Great Adventure is the region's biggest family draw. Timberland Lake Campground bills itself as the closest campground to Six Flags, sitting about two miles west of the park, and Crystal Springs Wilderness Lodges and RV Resort is a short drive from Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor, and the Wild Safari.
On-site recreation varies by property. Timberland Lake has an Olympic-sized swimming pool, daily hayrides, a private five-acre lake for fishing and boat rentals, mini-golf, volleyball, and horseshoes. Turkey Swamp Park has four playgrounds including one inside the campground, a 17-acre lake for boating and fishing with rental boats, and eight miles of trails.
History-focused travelers can visit Washington Crossing State Park, NJ, the New Jersey landing site of Washington's 1776 Delaware crossing, with hiking trails and interpretive sites open to day visitors.

The regional camping season runs roughly April through mid-November. The Turkey Swamp Park family campground is open from April 1 to November 15, accommodates tents, travel trailers, and motor homes, and the park itself is open year round. Reservations there are accepted after January 1 for that year. Indian Rock RV Resort and Campground operates on a longer season with limited winter amenities, and pool operations at area private parks typically run daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Summer weekends are the busiest window, especially anything tied to Six Flags, July 4, and Labor Day. Reservations should be locked in well ahead for these dates. Spring and early fall offer milder temperatures, fewer bugs, and easier availability, though pools and some scheduled activities may be closed.
Winter camping is limited. At Washington Crossing State Park, NJ, campgrounds are closed until further notice, so RV renters targeting that area should plan day trips rather than overnight stays and confirm status before booking a nearby private site.

Jacek was amazing with communication and having the advantages being able to have the RV delivered and set up was amazing. I wouldn’t have been able to do it myself. The camper was super clean, and comfortable. We had a great time.

Marc, the owner, and the RV went way beyond my expectations! Marc is super knowledgeable and helpful. The RV had every amenity you could want, was so easy to drive, and very well maintained. Prior to pick up date Marc sent me documentary and video informational instructions that were extremely useful. Marc was always available for any questions whether before or during our trip. We rented the RV for 13 days and traveled pretty far. I have no doubt that because the RV was so comfortable inconvenience. Our trip was effortless. I would definitely rent with Marc again and can’t wait for our next trip!

How to book campgrounds near Princeton Meadows
Reservation systems vary by operator. Online reservations for New Jersey state parks, including Washington Crossing State Park, NJ, are handled at camping.nj.gov, though its campground remains closed until further notice.
Turkey Swamp Park reservations are available online or by calling the campground office at 732-462-7286, with reservations accepted after January 1 for that year. Reservations require a two-night minimum on weekends (Friday and Saturday), and one-night stays are allowed Sunday through Thursday. Twelve of the 64 sites are held as first-come, first-served.
Private campgrounds handle their own bookings directly through operator websites or by phone. For summer weekends and holidays, book several months out. Weekday and shoulder-season stays are usually easier to secure closer to the date.
What to expect at Princeton Meadows campgrounds
Expect full-hookup RV sites at the private parks and more basic setups at public campgrounds. Timberland Lake offers full-hookup sites with 50-amp service, sewer, water, and cable, plus propane refills, a pump-out service, and a free dump station. Turkey Swamp has electrical service, drinking water, picnic tables, modern restrooms with hot showers and laundry, and a self-serve dump station.
Sites are generally wooded, with pine and oak cover common across the Jackson and Cream Ridge parks. Turkey Swamp's 64 pull-through campsites can accommodate tent campers, travel trailers, and motor homes up to 40 feet with up to six people.
Quiet hours are enforced at most parks. Cell coverage is generally reliable, but Wi-Fi quality at private campgrounds is inconsistent, so plan for spotty connections at your site.
