Campgrounds and RV parks near Rainbow Lakes, NJ

Rainbow Lakes is a small lake community in Denville Township, Morris County, in the northern New Jersey Highlands. The surrounding region blends wooded ridges, glacial lakes, and state forest land, and it sits within roughly an hour of both New York City and the Delaware Water Gap. That location makes it a practical base for RV renters who want forested camping without a long drive from the metro area. Campground options nearby range from rustic tent-only preserves to full-hookup family resorts. Camp Wyanokie sits next to Norvin Green State Forest and offers primitive sites, while Fla-Net Park in Flanders and Panther Lake Camping Resort in Andover cater to RVs with hookups and pools. Wawayanda State Park provides state-run individual and group sites, and The Great Divide Campground in Newton adds a larger family resort with cabins and planned activities. Most sites cluster in Morris, Sussex, and Passaic counties, all within roughly a 30 to 45 minute drive of Rainbow Lakes.

State park sites use one system. Online reservations for Wawayanda State Park can be made at camping.nj.gov, with sites bookable up to 11 months in advance. Group campsites require a minimum of seven persons and are typically arranged by contacting the park office. Popular summer weekends often sell out well ahead, so book as early as the system allows. Private resorts book directly. Panther Lake Camping Resort and The Great Divide Campground both take reservations through their own websites or by phone, and cabins and full-hookup pull-throughs go first. Camp Wyanokie is rustic and does not accommodate RVs, so plan it as a tent or small-trailer trip only. For Fla-Net Park, contact Mount Olive Township directly.
