Camping near Ramblewood

Ramblewood is an unincorporated community within Mount Laurel Township in Burlington County, New Jersey, roughly midway between Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore. It sits within Mount Laurel, which puts RV renters within an easy drive of both suburban campgrounds to the west and the pine forests of the New Jersey Pinelands to the east. Campground options in the area split into three categories. Private family resorts like Lake Kandle, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: South Jersey, and Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday focus on RV sites with hookups, pools, and organized activities. State-run camping at Atsion Recreational Area, at the northern end of Wharton State Forest, sits near a beach complex with restrooms, showers, and canoe and kayak rentals on Atsion Lake. Old Cedar Campground rounds out the mix as a smaller local option. Most sites in the region are seasonal. RV renters planning a summer trip should book early, particularly for weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day, when family resorts and Pinelands sites both fill quickly.

Things to do in Ramblewood

Water activities anchor most trips. Atsion Campground has 50 tent and trailer sites with fire rings and picnic tables adjacent to Atsion Lake, and campers can rent canoes and kayaks from Pinelands Adventures. The recreation area also features accessible amenities including an inclusive playground, two ADA trails with smooth gravel walkways, and beach mats for shore access. Family resorts lean into on-site amenities. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: South Jersey offers swimming pools, jumping pillows, playgrounds, sports courts, and an arcade. Lake Kandle features lake swimming, an activity pool, and an Olympic-size pool, plus fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and a snack bar. Philadelphia is roughly 30 minutes west for day trips, and the Atlantic City boardwalk is about an hour east.

The camping season in this part of New Jersey is short and clearly defined. Private resorts typically run from mid-April through late October or early November, with peak season from mid-June through Labor Day. At Atsion, the trailer sanitary station and cabin rentals operate on a spring-through-fall schedule. Summer is peak season for a reason: warm lake swimming, long daylight hours, and full programming at family resorts. It is also the busiest, hottest, and most humid time. On most summer weekends at Atsion Lake it is important to arrive early, since the park often fills to capacity and is closed by 10 a.m. Spring and early fall are quieter and cooler, with better site availability at private parks and easier day-use access at Atsion. Cabin rentals at Atsion wind down in early November. Winter camping options in the immediate Ramblewood area are very limited, with most private parks closed.

We had a great experience with RV Cozy Camper. The camper truly lived up to its name — it was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, making our trip relaxing and enjoyable. Everything we needed was thoughtfully provided, and the layout made the space feel welcoming and functional. It was easy to tow and set up, which helped take a lot of stress out of the trip. The attention to detail really showed and made us feel comfortable right away. Communication was smooth and helpful, and any questions we had were answered promptly. Overall, this was a wonderful experience, and we would absolutely recommend RV Cozy Camper to anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable camping option. We would happily use RV Cozy Camper again for future trips!

We had a family reunion out in West Virginia the first week in August. We decided to rent an RV this how I found Rod the owner of the RV. He was very polite and up front we us the whole time. The only down fall is the no pet rule. But we definitely rent from him next year.

We had a blast on our family road trip. "Archie" was easy to drive, clean and comfortable for my family of 3, with room to spare. Rod is a really nice guy and responded quickly to any question we had. We would love to do it again soon

How to book near Ramblewood

State-run sites and private resorts use different systems. Atsion Recreation Area campsites are reserved through ReserveAmerica, which handles New Jersey State Parks camping availability and online reservations. The Atsion Ranger Station is not open year round and usually closes early at 4 PM, so campers should carry a printout or screenshot of the online reservation, which is not the same as the permit. Private parks book direct. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: South Jersey and Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday take reservations through their own websites and the KOA system respectively. Lake Kandle sees strong demand for seasonal camping and may not offer nightly sites, with weekly or monthly stays sometimes available after Memorial Day weekend. Book summer weekends and holidays several months out.

What to expect

Sites vary widely in style. Private resorts near Ramblewood cater to RVs with full hookups, paved or gravel pads, and family programming. Lake Kandle runs mostly seasonal reservations. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: South Jersey has 30-amp and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections with pull-through sites for larger rigs. Atsion is more rustic, with sandy ground that levels easily for setup, though several campers note flooding can occur after heavy rains, and sites vary considerably in size and privacy. Small RVs are allowed, and there is a dump station but no hookups. Cell service remains limited but manageable for most users. Expect sandy soil in the Pinelands, mosquitoes and ticks in summer, and quieter conditions midweek.
