Campgrounds and RV parks near Ridgefield Park, NJ

From a base near Ridgefield Park, visitors can ride NJ Transit, the PATH train, or a ferry into Manhattan for museums, Central Park, and the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island ferries that depart from Liberty State Park. American Dream Meadowlands and MetLife Stadium are minutes away in East Rutherford. Outdoor options open up quickly to the north. Harriman State Park has more than 200 miles of hiking trails, 31 lakes, and a swim beach at Lake Welch adjacent to Beaver Pond Campground. Wawayanda State Park carries a stretch of the Appalachian Trail and offers lake swimming, paddling, and fishing for trout and landlocked salmon. Closer to town, the Hackensack Riverwalk, Overpeck County Park, and Palisades Interstate Park along the Hudson offer easy day trips for biking, birding, and picnicking.

Beaver Pond has no electrical hookups, accommodates trailers or RVs up to about 30 feet on select sites, and does not permit pets or alcohol; comfort stations, showers, laundry, and a dump station are on site. Wawayanda is primitive: no water at campsites, no showers, and water must be carried from the main office. Camp Wyanokie is tent-only and rustic. Black bears live throughout Harriman and the northern New Jersey highlands, so store food securely. Deer ticks and summer mosquitoes are common, and cell reception is spotty in the state forests.
