Campgrounds and RV parks near Somers Point, NJ

Somers Point sits on the mainland side of Great Egg Harbor Bay in Atlantic County, about a bridge crossing from Ocean City and a short drive north to Atlantic City. The location makes it a practical base for RV travelers who want beach days without paying barrier-island rates or fighting island traffic every night. Most campgrounds in the area are privately owned RV parks set back from the shore in the pinelands and farm country of Cape May and Atlantic counties. Whippoorwill Campground and Frontier Campground are among the closer options, with Lake and Shore RV Resort, Echo Farms RV Resort, and Pomona RV Park and Campground also within easy reach of the Somers Point bridges. Public camping is farther out. Belleplain State Forest to the west and Wharton State Forest in the Pine Barrens both take reservations through the New Jersey state parks system, but neither is on the water. For RV renters, the private parks near Somers Point are the more convenient option.

Private campgrounds around Somers Point, including Whippoorwill Campground, Frontier Campground, Lake and Shore RV Resort, Echo Farms RV Resort, and Pomona RV Park and Campground, take reservations directly through their own websites or phone lines. Two-night weekend minimums and three-night holiday minimums are common in summer. For state land, New Jersey uses a single reservation portal at camping.nj.gov, with sites released up to eleven months in advance. The state minimum stay is two nights and the maximum is fourteen nights. Belleplain State Forest is the closest state campground with RV-suitable sites, offering water and electric hookups at the CCC campground area. For summer weekends, book as soon as the eleven-month window opens for state parks, and check private parks by late winter. Cancellations sometimes free up sites closer to the date, so mid-week arrivals often have more flexibility.
