RV camping near Stockton University
Stockton University sits in Galloway Township in Atlantic County, New Jersey, roughly twelve miles northwest of Atlantic City and inside the Pinelands National Reserve. The surrounding pine and oak forest, tidal marshes, and shallow lakes shape the local camping options, and most parks are within a thirty-minute drive of campus, the Atlantic City Expressway, and the Garden State Parkway.
RV renters heading to this area usually choose between full-hookup private resorts and simpler wooded parks. Pomona RV Park and Campground and Shady Pines MH and RV Resort sit closest to the university, while Atlantic City Blueberry Hill RV Park Morgan RV Resorts offers a larger resort-style stay a short drive away. Holly Acres Campground and Egg Harbor City Lake and Campground extend the options further into the Pine Barrens.
The location works well for families combining a beach trip with campus visits, youth sports at Stockton, or Atlantic City events, without paying downtown parking rates.
Things to do near Stockton University
The Atlantic City boardwalk, Steel Pier, and Absecon Lighthouse are the closest big-name attractions, and Ocean City and Brigantine add family-friendly beach days without the casino crowd. Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, which borders Galloway, has an eight-mile Wildlife Drive that RV day-trippers can loop by car for shorebirds, ospreys, and salt-marsh views.
Inland, the Pine Barrens deliver paddling on the Mullica and Wading Rivers, cedar-water swimming holes, and cranberry-bog scenery. Historic Smithville is a walkable village with shops and restaurants a few minutes from campus.
For rainy days, Storybook Land in Egg Harbor Township suits younger kids, and the Noyes Museum and Stockton's own athletic events are open to visitors during the school year.

Peak RV season in the Galloway area runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when Atlantic County beaches, boardwalks, and Pine Barrens rivers are all in full swing. Private campgrounds fill quickly for July Fourth and any Atlantic City concert or air-show weekend, so booking several weeks ahead is standard.
Spring and fall are quieter and often more comfortable for RV travel. April through mid-June brings wildflowers and migrating shorebirds at Forsythe Refuge, while September and October combine warm ocean water with lower rates and easier site selection. Greenhead flies and mosquitoes can be a nuisance in salt-marsh areas in early summer.
Winter camping is limited. Many private parks in the region close or run reduced services from late fall through March, and New Jersey state park campgrounds in the Pine Barrens generally operate on a shortened season. Tropical storms and hurricane remnants can affect the coast from August through October, so travelers should watch forecasts closely in late summer and early fall.

How to book near Stockton University
Private parks near Stockton, including Pomona RV Park and Campground, Shady Pines MH and RV Resort, Atlantic City Blueberry Hill RV Park Morgan RV Resorts, and Holly Acres Campground, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer weekends and holiday stretches often require a two- or three-night minimum, and deposits are typically due at booking.
Egg Harbor City Lake and Campground is municipally operated, with its own local reservation process rather than a national portal. New Jersey State Park campgrounds in the wider Pine Barrens, such as Bass River and Wharton, book through camping.nj.gov, which accepts reservations up to eleven months in advance of the check-in date.
Check rig-length limits, hookup type, and pet rules before confirming, since older Pine Barrens parks vary widely on big-rig access.
What to expect on-site near Stockton University
Campgrounds near Stockton range from tightly packed resort loops with pools and full hookups to sandy, tree-shaded sites with basic water and electric. Sites in the Pine Barrens tend to sit on soft sand under pitch pine and oak, so leveling blocks and longer stakes help. Cell coverage is generally reliable across Atlantic County, though it can weaken inside dense forest cover.
Mosquitoes, ticks, and greenhead flies are part of the local experience from late spring into early fall, especially near marshes and cedar swamps. Bring repellent and check for ticks after hikes.
Most parks in the area are family-oriented and quiet after evening hours, and many offer weekend activities in summer. Grocery stores, propane, and RV supplies are easy to reach along Route 30, Route 9, and the Black Horse Pike.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Stockton University, NJ
How much does an RV rental in Stockton University, NJ cost?

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Stockton%20University%2C%20New%20JerseyWhat license do I need to rent an RV near Stockton University?

New Jersey does not require a commercial driver's license or special endorsement for recreational vehicles under 26,000 pounds, which covers essentially every motorhome and travel trailer on RVezy. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID securely through the platform once you book. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring a valid license from your home country (an International Driving Permit is recommended if your license is not in English) and you're set. Most first-time renters are surprised how quick the verification is, usually wrapped up the same day you book your Pinelands or Jersey Shore adventure.

Booking your Stockton University RV trip is low-risk because RVezy, not the host, sets a clear cancellation policy that includes a money-back grace period right after you book. If plans shift soon after reserving, you have a window to cancel and get your money back. Beyond the grace period, refunds depend on how far out you are from your trip start, and RVezy also has accommodations for events like natural disasters, which matters in coastal South Jersey during hurricane season. Full details are available in the RVezy Help Center and at checkout. Pro tip: if a nor'easter or tropical system is in the forecast, message your host early and reach out to RVezy support so everyone is on the same page.

Yes, a pet-friendly RV rental in Stockton University, NJ is easy to find on RVezy by checking the Pet-Friendly filter when you search. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge just minutes away allows leashed dogs on designated areas, and Bass River State Forest allows leashed dogs in most camping loops. Atlantic City's beaches restrict dogs in summer, but nearby boardwalks often allow leashed dogs during off-peak hours, so check current town rules before you go. Pro tip: pack a towel for sandy paws after Pine Barrens trail walks.
fws.gov/refuge/edwin-b-forsytheCan the RV be delivered to my campground near Stockton University?

You'll arrive to a fully leveled rig with slides out, hookups connected, and a walkthrough waiting. Delivery fees typically run $2 to $5 per mile round trip, and some hosts include free delivery within a set radius. Pro tip: book delivery directly to your campground and skip the driving learning curve entirely on your first trip.

camping.nj.gov/When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Stockton University?
Late spring through mid-fall is prime time for your Stockton University RV trip, with the sweet spot running from mid-May through mid-October. July and August are warm and humid, with average highs in the mid-80s°F and lots of beach company in Atlantic City and Long Beach Island. September is a local favorite: ocean water stays warm into early October, crowds thin out, and the Pine Barrens light up. Winters are mild compared to North Jersey, but most South Jersey campgrounds close from November through March. Pro tip: book a mid-September trip for quieter beaches and lower rates at private campgrounds like Shady Pines.
weather.gov/phi/I've never rented an RV before. Will I get help figuring it out?
Yes, first time renting an RV near Stockton University is genuinely easy because every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup. They'll show you how to operate the generator, awning, slide-outs, water system, propane, and dump valves, and you can record video on your phone for reference. Many South Jersey hosts also offer delivery and setup so you never have to back into a campsite. If something puzzles you mid-trip, message your host directly through the RVezy app, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included with your protection plan. Pro tip: ease into things with a two-night first trip to nearby Bass River State Forest before tackling longer routes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if something breaks down during my trip in South Jersey?
You're covered. Every RVezy booking with a protection plan includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if you get a flat on the Atlantic City Expressway, run out of fuel near the Pinelands, or need a tow off the Garden State Parkway, one phone call gets help dispatched. Mechanical issues are handled in coordination with your host, who knows the rig best, and RVezy customer support is reachable before, during, and after your trip. The dense network of service stations along the GSP and Route 30 means help is rarely far away in this part of New Jersey. Pro tip: snap a photo of your VIN and the roadside assistance number at pickup so you're never digging through paperwork later.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trips from Stockton University?
An RV road trip from Stockton University, NJ puts you at the center of the mid-Atlantic. Popular routes include the Jersey Shore loop south to Cape May (about 50 miles, 1 hour) with stops at Wildwood and Ocean City; a Pine Barrens loop through Batsto Village and Wharton State Forest (under 30 miles); a Philadelphia and Valley Forge weekend (60 miles, about 90 minutes); the Pocono Mountains for hiking and waterfalls (about 110 miles, 2.5 hours); and a longer Outer Banks run south through Delaware and Maryland (roughly 5 to 6 hours). Pro tip: combine the Cape May–Lewes ferry crossing with a Delaware beach loop for an unforgettable coastal week.
nps.gov/vafo/index.htmWhat should I budget for fuel during my New Jersey RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier line items to estimate on your motorhome rental Stockton University trip. Class B campervans typically deliver around 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 mpg, and Class A coaches 6 to 10 mpg; travel trailer fuel use depends on your tow vehicle. A key local quirk: in New Jersey, attendants pump your gas, you stay in the driver's seat. Plan roughly $80 to $150 in fuel for a Galloway-to-Cape May round trip in a Class C, depending on current prices. Pro tip: Wawa stations along Route 30 and the Garden State Parkway often have competitive fuel prices in South Jersey.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Stockton University?
Book sooner rather than later, especially for summer. New Jersey State Park sites at Bass River, Belleplain, and Wharton State Forest open reservations on the NJ State Parks reservation portal up to four months ahead, and the most popular summer weekends can sell out quickly. Private parks like Shady Pines usually have more flexibility but still fill up for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. For shoulder-season trips in May or late September, two to four weeks notice is usually fine. Pro tip: if you want a Friday-Saturday by the Pinelands in July, set a calendar reminder for the booking-window open date and book the moment it opens.
camping.nj.gov/What are the driving conditions like around Stockton University?
Driving an RV around Stockton University is genuinely beginner-friendly. The Galloway area is flat, the roads are wide, and Route 30 (the White Horse Pike) and the Garden State Parkway have generous lanes designed for shore traffic. Watch for two local quirks: summer weekend congestion on the GSP southbound on Fridays and northbound on Sundays, and seasonal deer activity in the Pinelands at dawn and dusk. Atlantic City has low parking garage clearances, so plan to park larger rigs at outer surface lots instead. Bridges to Long Beach Island and Ocean City accommodate RVs. Pro tip: leave the Shore by 2 p.m. on Sundays to dodge the post-beach traffic crawl.
state.nj.us/transportation/What hookups and amenities do campgrounds near Stockton University offer?
Most campgrounds near Stockton University offer the full RV camping setup you'd hope for. Private parks like Shady Pines typically provide 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer at the site, plus on-site dump stations, laundry, and hot showers. State park campgrounds like Bass River and Wharton's Atsion Lake lean more rustic, often offering basic sites that require a stop at a centralized dump station before departure. Potable water fill stations are standard at registration buildings. WiFi quality varies, so plan on cellular hotspots in the deeper Pinelands. Pro tip: top off your fresh tank and dump before checking in at state parks because hookups are limited and sites fill quickly with summer arrivals.
dep.nj.gov/parks/What's included inside the RV rentals near Stockton University?
Your motorhome rental Stockton University will feel like a hotel on wheels. Expect a real bed (often a queen), a kitchen with a fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with roof AC and furnace, dining seating, and seatbelted seats matching the rig's sleep count. Most Class C and Class A units include a TV, many have a generator for off-grid power, and a growing number of South Jersey hosts add WiFi boosters or Starlink. Bedding, kitchenware, and outdoor chairs are commonly included or available as add-ons, all listed transparently on each RVezy listing. Pro tip: filter listings by sleep count and generator if you're planning beachside camping or a Pinelands trip away from hookups.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Stockton%20University%2C%20New%20JerseyWhat add-ons and pickup options should I expect when I rent an RV in Stockton University, NJ?
Renting an RV in Stockton University, NJ comes with flexible options that make the trip your own. Common add-ons include bedding and linen kits ($30 to $75), kitchen packages, outdoor grills, bikes, kayaks, generators, and propane top-offs. Many Galloway-area hosts offer delivery and setup, while others have you pick up at their home base, with the walkthrough typically lasting 30 to 60 minutes. Mileage policies vary by listing, so look for free miles per day or unlimited-mileage listings if you're planning a Cape May or Poconos loop. Pet fees and late-return fees are clearly listed before checkout. Pro tip: message the host before booking to bundle add-ons since many will discount the package.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Stockton%20University%2C%20New%20JerseyHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment for your RV rental in Stockton University, NJ is handled securely through the RVezy platform; you never hand cash to the host. You'll pay your trip total at booking, and a refundable security deposit hold (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) is placed shortly before pickup, separate from your booking payment. The hold is released after dropoff once the host confirms the RV came back in the same condition it left. To avoid issues, take time-stamped photos and video at both pickup and return, follow the host's fuel and dump-station instructions, and keep all messages on the RVezy platform. Pro tip: a quick walkaround video at return is your best friend, your deposit usually clears within a few days.
