Campgrounds near Stratford
Stratford sits in Camden County in southern New Jersey, about 20 minutes from downtown Philadelphia and within easy reach of both the Pine Barrens and the Jersey Shore. RV travelers use it as a low-mileage base for city sightseeing, farm-country day trips, and beach runs to Atlantic City or Ocean City.
Options nearby lean private and family-oriented. Lake Kandle in Sewell is a family-oriented campground established in 1960, roughly 30 minutes to Philadelphia and an hour to Atlantic City, with supervised swimming at the lake, an activity pool, and an Olympic-size pool. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: South Jersey sits on the edge of the Pine Barrens in Williamstown, with access to a lake and obstacle course, swimming pools, jumping pillows, playground, sports courts, arcade, and more. Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday is the only KOA in New Jersey and sits about 20 minutes from downtown Philadelphia and Camden.
Further south, Old Cedar Campground offers wooded sites and a full weekend event calendar. For state-forest camping, Atsion Recreation Area within Wharton State Forest has fifty tent and trailer sites (maximum of 22 feet) with fire rings and picnic tables, and potable water, flush toilets, and showers within walking distance.
Things to do near Stratford
Philadelphia is the main draw. Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday is about 20 minutes from downtown Philadelphia and Camden, and rideshare into the city is straightforward from the campground. Historic sites, museums, and the waterfront are all reachable as a day trip without moving the RV.
On-site activity is heavy at the private parks. At Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park: South Jersey, guests can use the lake and obstacle course, swim in the pools, and enjoy jumping pillows, sports courts, and the arcade. Lake Kandle allows boating (gas motors prohibited) and fishing on the lake, and campers have access to the swim club.
For Pine Barrens paddling and hiking, Wharton State Forest has rivers and streams for canoeing, hiking trails including a major section of the Batona Trail, and miles of unpaved roads for mountain biking and horseback riding. Swimming in Atsion Lake is permitted in the summer when lifeguards are present.

We had a great experience with RV Cozy Camper. The camper truly lived up to its name — it was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, making our trip relaxing and enjoyable. Everything we needed was thoughtfully provided, and the layout made the space feel welcoming and functional. It was easy to tow and set up, which helped take a lot of stress out of the trip. We had a family reunion out in West Virginia the first week in August. We decided to rent an RV this how I found Rod the owner of the RV. He was very polite and up front we us the whole time. The only down fall is the no pet rule. But we definitely rent from him next year.

We had a blast on our family road trip. "Archie" was easy to drive, clean and comfortable for my family of 3, with room to spare. Rod is a really nice guy and responded quickly to any question we had. We would love to do it again soon

How to book a campground near Stratford
Reservation systems vary by operator. State-forest sites in New Jersey use a single online portal. Online reservations for Wharton State Forest can be made at camping.nj.gov. Check-in occurs at the Atsion Office, not at the campground itself, and closes promptly at 4 PM.
Private parks each run their own booking portals. KOA takes reservations through the KOA website or app, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park: South Jersey books through its own site. Due to strong demand for seasonal camping, Lake Kandle may not have sites available on a nightly basis, though after Memorial Day weekend sites might become available on a weekly or monthly basis. Old Cedar Campground takes bookings directly through the operator.
For summer weekends and any holiday, book several weeks out. Confirm rig-length limits before booking, particularly at Atsion where trailers over 22 feet are not permitted.
What to expect
Expect suburban South Jersey terrain: flat, wooded pockets between farms, wineries, and small towns, with easy highway access to Philadelphia and the shore. Private parks near Stratford lean amenity-heavy, with pools, playgrounds, and organized weekend activities aimed at families.
Hookups are standard at the private parks, with 30- and 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer at most sites, plus pull-throughs for larger rigs. At Lake Kandle each campsite is equipped with metered electric service.
State-forest camping is a different experience. The Atsion campground operates without on-site staff, though state park police make occasional patrols, and cell service remains limited but manageable for most users. Note that Lake Kandle does not permit tent camping and prohibits pets, so check each park's pet and rig policies before arriving.
