Campgrounds and RV parks near Surf City, NJ

Surf City sits on Long Beach Island (LBI), a barrier island on the New Jersey shore in Ocean County. The island itself has no traditional RV campgrounds, so RV travelers stay at mainland parks in and around Barnegat, Little Egg Harbor, Tuckerton, and West Creek, then drive across the Route 72 causeway to reach Surf City and neighboring beach towns. The closest options cluster along Route 9 and the edge of the Pine Barrens. Sea Pirate Campground in West Creek sits a short drive from Long Beach Island and offers RV sites, cabins, and cottages. Bakers Acres Campgrounds in Little Egg Harbor Township sits on a wooded property at the edge of the Pinelands. Sun Retreats Long Beach Island is in Barnegat, roughly ten miles from the beach, and Atlantic Shore Pines Campground near Tuckerton rounds out the LBI-focused parks. Farther north, Cedar Creek Campground and Canoe Rent in Bayville puts paddlers within reach of Barnegat Bay and the Pine Barrens while still keeping the LBI beaches within a reasonable drive.

All of the closest campgrounds are privately owned and book directly rather than through a state or federal reservation system. Sea Pirate Campground takes reservations through its own website, Sun Retreats Long Beach Island books through the Sun Outdoors site or by phone, and Bakers Acres Campgrounds and Atlantic Shore Pines Campground accept reservations by phone and web form. For summer weekends, plan several months ahead. Holiday weekends often sell out by late winter, and seasonal sites are held by returning campers year over year. Confirm rig-length limits, pull-through availability, and hookup type at booking, since many shore parks mix seasonal, transient, and cabin inventory on the same property. Deposits are typically required at the time of booking, with balance due on arrival.
