Campgrounds and RV parks near Waretown, NJ

Waretown sits on the west shore of Barnegat Bay in Ocean County, on the edge of the Pine Barrens and about a half-hour drive from Long Beach Island beaches. The location gives RV travelers a mix within a short radius: pitch pine forest to the west, salt marsh and bay access to the east, and Atlantic beaches across the causeway. Campground options near Waretown range from private full-hookup parks to a state forest with rustic sites. Bakers Acres Campgrounds and Sea Pirate Campground sit inland in the pines to the south, Sun Retreats Long Beach Island serves travelers who want to be near the barrier-island beaches, and Cedar Creek Campground and Canoe Rent operates to the north near Bayville. Bass River State Forest, about 20 minutes south, sits within the Pinelands National Reserve and offers the closest public-land camping. Most private parks here cater to families with pools, playgrounds, and planned weekend activities, while the state forest offers a quieter, wooded experience with lake access.

New Jersey state park sites, including Bass River State Forest, are reserved through the state's official system at camping.nj.gov, with reservations accepted up to 11 months in advance. Popular summer weekends sell out well ahead of the date. Bass River has 176 tent and trailer sites with fire rings and picnic tables, flush toilets and showers within walking distance of all sites, and no hook-ups. Private campgrounds such as Bakers Acres Campgrounds, Sea Pirate Campground, and Sun Retreats Long Beach Island take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone, and most require a deposit. Peak-summer holiday weekends often require multi-night minimums. For RV renters, confirm site length, hookup type (30 vs 50 amp), and big-rig access when booking.
