Campgrounds and RV parks near West Cape May, NJ

West Cape May sits at the southern tip of New Jersey's Cape May Peninsula, minutes from Cape May's Victorian beaches, the Cape May Lighthouse, and the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. RV travelers use it as a base for the lower Jersey Shore, with campgrounds clustered along U.S. Route 9 between Cape May and Cape May Court House. Options closest to town include Depot Travel Park in West Cape May itself and Cape Island Campground on the Cape May Peninsula. Sun Retreats Cape May and Sun Retreats Cape May Wildwood offer larger wooded resorts a short drive north, while Holly Shores Campground provides another family-oriented property in the same corridor. No campgrounds sit directly on the beach, but many are set within the wooded landscape on the mainland side of Cape May County. Most properties in the area cater to RVs with full or partial hookups, pools, and family programming, and sit within a short drive of the beaches, the Wildwoods boardwalk, and the birding hotspots at Cape May Point.

Private RV parks around West Cape May take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer weekends and holidays book up early, so lock in dates several weeks or months ahead, especially for full-hookup and pull-through sites. Advance reservations are strongly recommended for July and August, when many parks reach capacity. For state-run camping in the region, New Jersey uses a single online portal at camping.nj.gov. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance for most state park campgrounds, and a two-night minimum applies to most sites. Same-day walk-in registration is accepted at some state sites when space allows, but summer availability is limited.
