Campgrounds and RV parks near West Park, NJ

Parvin State Park anchors outdoor recreation in the area, with about 15 miles of multi-use trails, two lakes, Parvin Lake and Thundergust Lake, and Muddy Run stream for canoeing and kayaking. Fishing is productive across all three waters for bass, pickerel, catfish, yellow perch, and sunfish. A seasonal Nature Center is located within the campground area. Families staying at Adventure Bound Tall Pines have on-site water attractions including a splash park, swimming pool, and inflatable water slides, along with a four-weekend Halloween celebration with haunted trails, trick-or-treating, and costume contests. Old Cedar Campground adds mini golf, a swimming pool, fishing lakes, and access to the Elephant Swamp nature trail. Off-site, motorsports fans can catch events at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, and day trips run easily to Philadelphia to the north and Jersey Shore beaches to the southeast, both about 45 minutes to an hour away.

The core camping season in South Jersey runs from April through late October, matching the operating windows of most area campgrounds. Parvin State Park's campsites and group sites are open April 1 through November 30, and reservations can be booked up to 11 months in advance through the state system. Old Cedar Campground operates seasonally from April 15 through October 31, and Adventure Bound Tall Pines runs an April through October season. Four Seasons Campgrounds also operates on a seasonal schedule; confirm current dates directly with the operator. Spring brings mild temperatures and heavy bloom in Parvin's swamp hardwood forest, with dogwood, mountain laurel, holly, magnolia, wild azalea, and more than 200 species of flowering plants. Summer is warm and humid, ideal for lake activity and water parks but the busiest window for reservations. Fall is generally dry and cool with strong foliage color. Winter camping is limited: state park campsites close, private parks either close or operate at reduced capacity, and only self-contained rigs comfortably tolerate the cold.

Roads through Parvin State Park are narrow and sandy, so larger RVs need to maneuver carefully at the entrance and inside the campground loops. State park sites offer fire rings, picnic tables, and lantern hooks, with flush toilets, showers, laundry facilities, and a trailer sanitary station within walking distance. The sanitary dump station at Jaggers Point is currently closed under a park advisory, so plan for an off-site dump. Private parks in the area lean family-oriented with full-hookup pull-throughs, laundry, camp stores, and pools. Site types at Adventure Bound Tall Pines include premium full hookup, water/electric/sewer, water/electric, and tent sites. Expect mixed cell signal in wooded areas, biting insects near lakes and wetlands in summer, and occasional statewide fire restrictions during dry stretches.
