May, June, September, and early October bring milder temperatures, thinner crowds, and strong birding, particularly during the fall raptor migration at Cape May Point. Ocean water often stays swimmable into September. Winter is quiet. Many private campgrounds in the area close or run limited operations from late fall through March. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with the highest storm risk in August and September.

Private parks around Whitesboro are geared to families and typically include pools, playgrounds, laundry, camp stores, and full hookups with sewer, water, and electric. Sites range from open gravel pads to shaded wooded spots, and terrain is generally flat and easy to maneuver a rental rig into. Bug pressure can be significant in summer, so pack repellent and consider a screen room. Belleplain State Forest offers a more rustic experience, with fire rings and picnic tables at each site and a trailer sanitary station on premises. The dump station hose is unavailable from November through March, so confirm hookup and water status when booking outside the main season. Cell coverage is generally reliable across the Cape May Peninsula but can weaken deeper inside the state forest.
