Campgrounds near Ardsley, New York
Ardsley sits in central Westchester County, roughly 20 miles north of Manhattan along the Saw Mill River Parkway. RV travelers staying here trade tight urban options for a ring of state parks in the lower Hudson Valley and northern New Jersey, most within a 30 to 75 minute drive. The closest developed campgrounds are Beaver Pond Campground in Harriman State Park and Pelton Pond in Clarence Fahnestock State Park, both operated by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
For travelers who want to base near the city, Liberty Harbor RV Park sits across the Hudson in Jersey City with PATH access to Manhattan, and Floyd Bennett Field inside Gateway National Recreation Area offers National Park Service camping in Brooklyn. Camp Wyanokie, on the New Jersey side in the Norvin Green State Forest area, is a more rustic option best suited to smaller rigs.
Between them these sites cover full-hookup urban RV parking, wooded state-park loops, and back-to-basics tent-and-trailer camping.
Things to do near Ardsley
From Ardsley, the Hudson River corridor is the main draw. Day trips include Bear Mountain and Harriman State Park for hiking and swimming at Lake Welch, Sleepy Hollow and the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail for easier walks, and the Walkway Over the Hudson farther north near Poughkeepsie. Kykuit and Lyndhurst estates sit within a short drive.
Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park spans Putnam and Dutchess counties with hiking trails, a beach at Canopus Lake, picnic areas, boating, hunting, fishing, and birding. Fishing in Stillwater and Canopus Lakes and the park's four ponds targets bass, pickerel, perch, and brook and rainbow trout, and rowboats and kayaks are available for rental. The park is also home to the Taconic Outdoor Education Center and Fahnestock Winter Park, which offers groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails.
Manhattan itself is reachable by Metro-North from nearby Ardsley-on-Hudson and Dobbs Ferry stations.

How to book campgrounds near Ardsley
New York State Park campgrounds, including Beaver Pond at Harriman, are booked through the state's ReserveAmerica portal. Reservations can be made up to nine months in advance, and same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival. Popular summer weekends and fall-foliage dates should be booked as early as the window opens.
Floyd Bennett Field at Gateway National Recreation Area uses the federal Recreation.gov system and requires reservations at least a day in advance. Liberty Harbor RV Park is booked directly through the park's own website and tends to fill quickly during major New York City events.
Check each park's pet, generator, and vehicle-length rules before arrival, and confirm hookup availability, as many state-park sites offer no hookups. Beaver Pond, for example, does not have electrical hookups and does not permit pets.
What to expect at Ardsley-area campgrounds

Floyd Bennett Field is a former airfield with open, exposed sites, no hookups, picnic tables, charcoal grills, and fire rings. State-park campgrounds are wooded and quieter, with picnic tables, fire rings, and shared restrooms.
Beaver Pond accommodates trailers or RVs up to 30 feet long on select sites, with shared full-service bathrooms and a dumping station on site. Pets are not permitted at Beaver Pond or the adjacent Lake Welch area.
Cell coverage is generally strong across Westchester and Rockland but can drop inside deeper sections of Harriman. Traffic on the Tappan Zee crossing and Palisades Parkway is heaviest on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings.
