Campgrounds and RV parks near Arlington, NY

Arlington sits just east of the Hudson River in the Town of Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, placing RV travelers within easy reach of Hudson Valley state parks, private lake campgrounds, and full-service RV resorts. The area draws families using it as a base for FDR historic sites in Hyde Park, wineries, farm markets, and river recreation, with most campgrounds concentrated within a 30 to 45 minute drive. Public camping near Arlington centers on the New York State Parks system. Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park, part of the Mills Norrie complex, is bounded on the west by the Hudson River, with bluffs, golf, and cross-country ski terrain. Further south, Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park covers more than 14,000 acres of Hudson Valley terrain in Putnam and Dutchess counties, with the Pelton Pond area serving as the traditional overnight base. Private options round out the mix. Interlake RV Park & Campground in Rhinebeck, Sylvan Lake Beach Park Inc in Hopewell Junction, and the New York City North / Newburgh KOA Holiday give RVers full hookups and family amenities that the state parks generally do not offer.

New York State Parks use one centralized reservation system. Reservations can be made online or through the ReserveAmerica Call Center at 1-800-456-2267. Reservations must be made one day ahead of arrival and can be made up to nine months in advance, so weekend and holiday sites at Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park should be locked in early. Same-day reservations for campsites are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival. Private parks book direct. Interlake RV Park & Campground, Sylvan Lake Beach Park Inc, and the New York City North / Newburgh KOA Holiday take reservations by phone or through their websites, and KOA bookings can also be made through the KOA app. Walk-ins are permitted on state park campsites only, but summer weekend availability is unreliable and not a strategy to plan around.
