Camping near Briarcliff Manor
Briarcliff Manor sits in Westchester County along the east side of the Hudson River, roughly an hour north of New York City. The village itself has no campground, but it is well positioned for RV trips: state park campgrounds in the Hudson Highlands lie within an easy drive to the north and west, and the nearest full-hookup urban RV park is across the river in New Jersey.
The closest tent and small-RV camping is at Beaver Pond Campground - Harriman State Park, a large park in Rockland and Orange counties with dozens of lakes and hundreds of miles of trails. Farther north, Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park anchors camping in Putnam County, with its Pelton Pond - Clarence Fahnestock State Park campground area along the western shore of the pond.
Other nearby options include Sylvan Lake Beach Park Inc, a privately run lakefront campground in Hopewell Junction, Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City for travelers who want direct transit access to Manhattan, and Camp Wyanokie, a rustic tent-only preserve at the edge of Norvin Green State Forest in West Milford, New Jersey.
Things to do near Briarcliff Manor
Hiking dominates the region. Harriman State Park alone offers more than 200 miles of trails, including a section of the Appalachian Trail, plus lake swimming at Lake Welch and Lake Tiorati. Clarence Fahnestock adds miles of additional trails, a sandy swimming beach on Canopus Lake, and rowboat and kayak rentals.
Anglers can fish for bass, pickerel, perch, and stocked trout across the Fahnestock lakes and ponds with a New York State freshwater fishing license. Sylvan Lake Beach Park Inc offers swimming, non-motorized boating, and family lawn games on a private lake.
From Liberty Harbor RV Park, travelers can walk to the PATH train or catch a weekday ferry to Lower Manhattan, making a day trip to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, or midtown easy without driving into the city.

The Hudson Valley camping season is short and heavily weighted to warm months. Beaver Pond Campground - Harriman State Park typically opens in mid-April for a brief walk-in window and runs a full reservation season from early May through mid-October. The Pelton Pond area at Clarence Fahnestock is closed for the 2026 season for construction of a new bathhouse, so trip planners should check the New York State Parks site before booking; the group wilderness area remains open by phone reservation through the park office.
Summer weekends fill fastest, especially at Harriman given its proximity to New York City. Fall brings cool nights, strong foliage color from late September through mid-October, and easier weekday availability. Winter shuts down most state park camping in the region, while cross-country skiing and snowshoeing continue at Fahnestock Winter Park.
Liberty Harbor RV Park operates year-round, which makes it the fallback option for shoulder-season and winter trips in the area.

Here’s the updated version with the host included: RV Trip Review We just got back from our trip and had a great experience with this RV. The vehicle was clean, comfortable, and ran really well throughout the entire trip. It had plenty of space for the family and made traveling together easy and enjoyable. Everything worked as expected, and we felt comfortable and confident on the road. The host was also incredibly supportive, friendly, and easy to communicate with. They made the whole rental experience smooth and stress-free. It was a great RV for a family trip(5 people), and we would definitely rent from this host again!

How to book campgrounds near Briarcliff Manor
New York state park campgrounds, including Beaver Pond at Harriman, are booked through the ReserveAmerica-powered New York State Parks reservation system, either online or by phone. Reservations open up to nine months in advance, and during peak season same-day bookings are cut off at 3 p.m. Walk-ins are not accepted at Beaver Pond.
Private campgrounds handle their own reservations. Sylvan Lake Beach Park Inc books by phone or through its own campground website. Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City takes reservations year-round by phone. Camp Wyanokie reserves rustic tent sites through its operator and does not accept RVs.
For summer weekends and any holiday, reserve as far ahead as possible; cancellations happen but are not reliable.
What to expect at campgrounds near Briarcliff Manor
Sites and hookups vary widely. Beaver Pond has 125 sites with picnic tables, fire rings, shared bathhouses with showers, laundry, and a dump station, but no electric hookups, and RV length is capped at 30 feet. Pets and alcohol are not permitted, and only one vehicle is allowed per site. Pelton Pond at Clarence Fahnestock has around 80 wooded sites with restrooms, showers, and a dump station when open, but is closed for the 2026 season.
Sylvan Lake Beach Park Inc has full-hookup RV sites, rustic tent sites, and seasonal sites on a wooded lakefront property. Liberty Harbor RV Park is essentially a paved marina lot with 30- and 50-amp electric, water, dump station, laundry, and Wi-Fi; sites are tight and close together. Camp Wyanokie is fully rustic with pit toilets, fire pits, and no running water or electricity.
Black bears live in Harriman and the surrounding highlands, so store food properly, and deer-tick precautions are advisable spring through fall.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Briarcliff Manor, NY
How much does an RV rental in Briarcliff Manor typically cost?
Great news: an RV rental in Briarcliff Manor can fit a wide range of budgets, with travel trailers often starting around $90 to $150 per night and Class C motorhomes typically running $175 to $275 per night on RVezy. Campervans (Class B) usually land in the middle. To find a cheap RV rental in Briarcliff Manor, look at midweek pickups, shoulder-season dates (April, May, late September, October), and use the price filter to sort lowest to highest. Pro tip: many Westchester County hosts offer multi-night discounts for 5+ nights, which is perfect for a Hudson Valley loop hitting Sleepy Hollow, Cold Spring, and Bear Mountain in one trip.
parks.westchestercountyny.gov/croton-point-park/croton-point-feesWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Briarcliff Manor, NY?
Good news: a standard New York Class D driver's license (or your equivalent home-state or home-country license) is all you need to rent an RV in Briarcliff Manor for virtually every rig on RVezy. New York only requires an 'R' endorsement for recreational vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,000 pounds or longer than 40 feet, and the vast majority of motorhome rentals in Westchester County stay well under that threshold. You'll need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform in minutes. Visiting from abroad? Pair your home license with an International Driving Permit (IDP) before your trip and you're set.
dmv.ny.gov/driver-license/new-york-state-learner-permit-and-driver-license-class-descriptionsWhat protection is included when I rent an RV in Briarcliff Manor?
You're covered from day one: every RV rental in Briarcliff Manor through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you're never stranded on the Taconic or the Saw Mill Parkway without help. During checkout, you choose the protection level that fits your trip, and the plan covers eligible accidental damage to the RV. Roadside assistance is included with every protection plan. Pro tip: select your protection tier early in the booking flow so you know your full nightly total upfront and feel confident heading out on your Hudson Valley RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat's the cancellation policy if my plans change?
Book with confidence: RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation (not individual hosts), and it includes a money-back grace period after booking so you can lock in your Briarcliff Manor RV trip dates without second-guessing. After that window, refund eligibility depends on how far out from your trip you cancel. The full cancellation policy is shown on the RVezy Help Center, not in individual listings. Pro tip: message the host with questions before booking, then commit, the grace window has your back.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Briarcliff Manor RV trip?
Absolutely: pet-friendly RV rental options in Briarcliff Manor are easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the 'Pet-Friendly' filter on the search page and you'll see hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). Westchester is a fantastic place to travel with pets. Croton Point Park, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, and Mountain Lakes Park all allow leashed dogs in campgrounds, and Rockefeller State Park Preserve in nearby Pleasantville has miles of dog-friendly carriage trails. Pro tip: message the host before booking to mention your pet's size and breed, ask about any cleaning fees, and pack a leash, waste bags, and proof of rabies vaccination for park entry.
parks.westchestercountyny.gov/croton-point-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway?
Yes, and it's a game-changer for first-timers: many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery in Briarcliff Manor and across Westchester County, dropping the RV at your campsite (Croton Point Park is a popular delivery destination), your driveway, or even a wedding venue, then handling setup and the walkthrough. This is especially valuable here because New York's parkway system bans large vehicles on roads like the Saw Mill, Hutchinson, and Taconic, so a local host who knows the truck routes removes a real headache. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see who offers it. Pro tip: ask whether hookup and orientation are included in the delivery fee.
dot.ny.gov/programs/brochures/parkway-brochureHow far can I drive, and what about mileage limits?
You've got plenty of range for a great Briarcliff Manor RV trip: most RVezy hosts include a daily mileage allotment (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day), and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer journeys. Each listing shows the exact mileage policy before you book. From Briarcliff Manor you can reach Bear Mountain State Park in about 30 miles, Cold Spring in 25 miles, the Catskills around Phoenicia in 90 miles, Lake George in 180 miles, and the Jersey Shore in about 110 miles. Pro tip: if you're planning a longer road trip from Briarcliff Manor, message hosts to ask about discounted mileage packages upfront.
dot.ny.gov/programs/brochures/parkway-brochureWhere are the best campgrounds near Briarcliff Manor?
You're spoiled for choice for RV camping near Briarcliff Manor. Croton Point Park (about 10 miles north in Croton-on-Hudson) has full-hookup RV sites on a peninsula jutting into the Hudson, plus a swimming pool and beach. Beaver Pond Campground in Harriman State Park (35 miles) offers 126 sites in deep forest. Clarence Fahnestock State Park (30 miles north in Carmel) sits on 14,000+ acres with a lake beach. Sal J. Prezioso Mountain Lakes Park in North Salem is Westchester's northernmost county park with yurts and cabins. Pro tip: Croton Point is the only full-hookup Westchester County park RV site, so it books up fast for summer weekends.
parks.westchestercountyny.gov/activities/campingWhen is the best time to rent an RV in Briarcliff Manor?
Late April through October is prime time for an RV trip from Briarcliff Manor, with each season offering something special. May and June bring 70 to 80 degree days and blooming gardens at nearby Rockefeller State Park Preserve. July and August average highs in the low-to-mid 80s with warm Hudson River swimming weather. But the real insider pick is late September through mid-October: 60 to 70 degree afternoons, brilliant foliage along the Hudson Highlands, and far fewer crowds. Croton Point Park RV sites open in early March and tent/cabin season starts mid-May. Pro tip: book October weekends 2-3 months ahead — leaf-peepers grab them fast.
parks.westchestercountyny.gov/croton-point-park/croton-point-feesI've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?
You've got this, and you won't be alone. First time renting an RV is normal on RVezy, and every host gives a hands-on orientation at pickup walking you through driving, hookups, the propane system, the generator, and dumping tanks. You can message your host with questions any day before the trip, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every protection plan. For Briarcliff Manor specifically, most renters choose a Class C motorhome or travel trailer because they handle like a large van or pickup. Pro tip: book a host who offers delivery for your first trip so you skip the drive entirely and ease into RV life at the campsite.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if something goes wrong on the road?
You're never on your own: every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance with the protection plan, so a flat tire on Route 9, a dead battery at Croton Point, or a mechanical hiccup on the Taconic State Parkway is a phone call away from help. You can also message your host directly through the RVezy app for questions about the RV's quirks, and RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: snap photos at pickup, save your host's number and the roadside assistance number to your phone, and download offline maps before heading into the Catskills where cell service can drop.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my RV across state lines or into Canada?
Absolutely: interstate travel is welcome on most RVezy rentals from Briarcliff Manor, opening up routes like the Jersey Shore (about 110 miles), Cape Cod (about 250 miles), the White Mountains in New Hampshire (about 280 miles), and Acadia in Maine (about 430 miles). Cross-border travel to Canada may be allowed depending on the host and protection coverage, so message the host before booking if Montreal or Quebec City is on your list. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because protection coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: confirm your route with the host in writing through the RVezy chat so everyone's aligned.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Hudson Valley RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable cost, but it's manageable. Expect roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon for a Class C motorhome, 10 to 14 mpg for a campervan, and 12 to 16 mpg for a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. New York State gas prices typically run a bit above the national average, so for a 300-mile Briarcliff Manor RV trip in a Class C, budget around $120 to $180 in fuel. Pro tip: gas stations along Route 9 in Ossining and Peekskill are usually cheaper than those right off I-684, and many big rigs need the high-clearance truck lanes you'll find at full-service stations on US-9 rather than parkway-adjacent pumps.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground?
Plan ahead and you'll lock in the best spots. New York State Park campgrounds (Harriman's Beaver Pond, Clarence Fahnestock) accept reservations up to 9 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and summer weekends fill within days of opening. Westchester County Parks like Croton Point and Mountain Lakes book through the county's reservation portal, and Croton Point's full-hookup RV sites are the hottest tickets in the area. For July, August, and October leaf-peeping weekends, aim to reserve 3 to 6 months out. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) are dramatically easier to get and quieter, especially at Croton Point where weekends draw festival crowds.
parks.westchestercountyny.gov/activities/campingAre there driving restrictions I should know about around Briarcliff Manor?
Yes, and this is the single most important thing to know for any RV rental Westchester drivers should plan around: New York's parkways (Saw Mill, Hutchinson, Bronx River, Taconic, Sprain Brook, Cross County, Merritt in CT) ban commercial vehicles, and many have stone-arch bridges as low as 6 feet 11 inches — your RV will not fit. Stick to I-87 (NY State Thruway), I-684, I-287, US-9, and Route 9A instead. Set your GPS to 'RV mode' or 'avoid parkways' before pulling out of the driveway. Pro tip: RV-specific apps like RV Trip Wizard or CoPilot RV factor in clearances and route you safely around the parkway network.
dot.ny.gov/programs/brochures/parkway-brochureWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Briarcliff Manor?
Local campgrounds cover the full spectrum. Croton Point Park offers full hookups (water, sewer, electric) at RV sites plus a dump station, potable water fill, hot showers, and a swimming pool. Harriman State Park's Beaver Pond has electric and water at many sites with a central dump station. Clarence Fahnestock has electric hookups, hot showers, and a swimming beach. Mountain Lakes Park is more rustic — yurts, cabins, and pit toilets. For dumping between trips, Croton Point Park's station is the most convenient public option in lower Westchester. Pro tip: confirm hookup amps (30 vs 50) with your host so your RV's electrical setup matches the site you reserve.
parks.westchestercountyny.gov/croton-point-parkWhat's typically inside the RVs available in Briarcliff Manor?
You'll find true homes on wheels. Most motorhome rentals in Briarcliff Manor include a queen or king bed, convertible dinette or bunks, a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a wet or dry bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control (roof AC and furnace), and seatbelted seating for travel. Many rigs add a generator, outdoor awning, TV, and Bluetooth stereo. Wi-Fi varies by host (some include hotspots, some don't). Each RVezy listing shows exact amenities, sleep count, and seatbelt count. Pro tip: if you're planning a family RV trip from Briarcliff Manor, filter by 'sleeps 6' or more and verify the number of seatbelts matches your traveling party.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup logistics should I expect?
Hosts make it easy to customize your Briarcliff Manor RV rental. Popular add-ons include bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, generator hours, bike racks, outdoor chairs, and pet cleaning fees, with prices set by each host and shown before checkout. Pickup is typically at the host's home in Westchester or a nearby town like Ossining, Pleasantville, Tarrytown, or Yorktown Heights, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough included. Drop-off is at the same location unless you've arranged delivery. Mileage and generator policies are clearly listed on each listing. Pro tip: message hosts about one-way options for routes like Briarcliff Manor to Burlington or Bar Harbor, some are open to it for an extra fee.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Briarcliff%20Manor%2C%20New%20YorkHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment on RVezy is simple and secure, handled fully through the platform with no cash or checks exchanged with the host. You'll pay the rental cost, fees, and chosen protection plan when you book. A refundable security deposit is held separately from the booking payment before your trip starts and released after drop-off, assuming no damage. To keep things smooth: do a thorough photo and video walkthrough at pickup and drop-off, document fuel and propane levels, and return the RV clean. Pro tip: ask your host at pickup what specifically counts against the deposit (smoking, un-emptied tanks) so there are zero surprises.
