Campgrounds near Bronxville, New York
Bronxville sits in southern Westchester County, roughly 15 miles north of Midtown Manhattan. There are no campgrounds in the village itself, but an RV can reach a wide range of sites within a one to two hour drive, spanning urban waterfront hookups, National Park Service land, and Hudson Highlands state parks.
The closest full-service RV option is Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City, which offers full hookups and sits directly across the harbor from Lower Manhattan. For a National Park experience within city limits, Floyd Bennett Field in Gateway National Recreation Area offers a small RV and tent campground on the former airfield in Brooklyn.
Heading north into the Hudson Valley opens up state park camping. Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park has a campground along Pelton Pond with 75 sites available for reservation. Harriman State Park’s Beaver Pond Campground offers ground and platform sites near Lake Welch in the Ramapo Mountains, while Camp Wyanokie provides primitive group camping in the North Jersey highlands.
Things to do near Bronxville
Trail networks are the main draw north of the city. Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park covers roughly 15,000 acres of forest, lakes, and ponds, with more than 50 miles of hiking trails plus swimming, boat rentals, and fishing on Canopus Lake. A section of the Appalachian Trail passes through the park, giving day-hike access straight from the Pelton Pond area.
Harriman State Park offers swimming beaches at Lake Welch and Lake Tiorati, plus around 200 miles of blazed trails reachable from Beaver Pond Campground. Camp Wyanokie sits near Norvin Green State Forest, with short scrambles up Wyanokie High Point and Carris Hill.
From Liberty Harbor RV Park or Floyd Bennett Field, families can pair camping with day trips into Manhattan by ferry, PATH, or subway, or beach time at Jacob Riis Park and Sandy Hook.

Peak camping season across the region runs from late spring through mid-October, when weekends at state park campgrounds book out weeks ahead. State-park sites in New York are generally seasonal. The Pelton Pond loop at Clarence Fahnestock typically operates from mid-May through early November, with 75 sites and a 40-foot RV length limit. Beaver Pond at Harriman opens on the last Friday in April and closes on the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend, with select sites accommodating trailers or RVs up to 30 feet.
Late September and October bring foliage and cooler nights, ideal for RV travel but heavily booked on weekends. Mosquitoes and ticks are a factor from May through August, so families should plan repellent and tick checks.
In winter, most state park campgrounds close, though Liberty Harbor RV Park operates year-round for travelers who need a base near the city. Fahnestock Winter Park offers roughly 15 kilometers of groomed trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, plus a sledding area, giving cold-weather day-use options even when tent and RV loops are shut.

Here’s the updated version with the host included: RV Trip Review We just got back from our trip and had a great experience with this RV. The vehicle was clean, comfortable, and ran really well throughout the entire trip. It had plenty of space for the family and made traveling together easy and enjoyable. Everything worked as expected, and we felt comfortable and confident on the road. The host was also incredibly supportive, friendly, and easy to communicate with. They made the whole rental experience smooth and stress-free. It was a great RV for a family trip(5 people), and we would definitely rent from this host again!

How to book campgrounds near Bronxville
New York state park campgrounds, including Beaver Pond at Harriman and Pelton Pond at Clarence Fahnestock, are booked through ReserveAmerica. Reservations can be made online or by calling 1-800-456-2267. The booking window opens up to nine months in advance of the arrival date, and popular summer weekends often fill quickly after release. Same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival for campsites.
Floyd Bennett Field camping in Gateway National Recreation Area is handled by the National Park Service concessioner and booked through Recreation.gov, with both tent and RV sites available. Liberty Harbor RV Park takes reservations directly through its own website or by phone. Camp Wyanokie is managed by a scouting council and reserved by group request. Confirm rig length limits before booking.
What to expect at campgrounds near Bronxville
Hookup expectations vary sharply by site type. Liberty Harbor is a paved urban RV park with full hookups, water views, and easy PATH access into Manhattan. Floyd Bennett Field is a former airfield with open, largely shadeless sites, picnic tables, grills, restrooms and showers, and no hookups.
State park campgrounds in the region are rustic. Pelton Pond offers tables, grills, water, toilets, showers, and 22 ADA sites, and accepts rigs up to 40 feet, but full hookups are not standard at New York state park loops. Beaver Pond has ground and platform sites with shared bathhouses, a 30-foot RV limit, no electrical hookups, no pets permitted, and no alcohol allowed. Sites are wooded and vary widely in privacy and levelness, so driving the loop before choosing is worthwhile. Cell coverage in the Hudson Highlands can be spotty.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Bronxville, NY
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Bronxville, NY?
RV rental in Bronxville typically runs between $150 and $400 per night, with campervans and smaller travel trailers on the lower end and Class A motorhomes on the higher end. You'll find the best value midweek and during the shoulder seasons of April to May and late September to October, when Westchester weather is still gorgeous but demand drops. Hosts set their own pricing on RVezy, so you can filter by price range and compare side by side. Pro tip: a cheap RV rental in Bronxville is often a travel trailer paired with delivery, which skips the need for a tow vehicle and gets you on the road faster.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bronxville%2C%20New%20YorkDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Bronxville, NY?
Good news: for nearly every RV rental in Bronxville, your regular driver's license is all you need. New York only requires an 'R' endorsement on your Class D license if the recreational vehicle has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,000 pounds, and almost all RVs on RVezy, including Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and most Class A models, fall under that threshold. You'll need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy will verify your ID right inside the booking flow. Visiting from abroad? Pair your home license with an International Driving Permit and you're set to roll.
dmv.ny.gov/driver-licenses/get-license/driver-license-classesWhat protection and roadside assistance come with my RVezy booking?
Every RV rental in Bronxville booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head out toward the Hudson Valley with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV, and you can choose your coverage level during checkout based on how much extra cushion you want. If you get a flat near the Bronx River Parkway or need a jump start at your campsite, one call gets help dispatched, day or night. You can review the full coverage details on RVezy's insurance and protection page before you book.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat if I need to cancel my Bronxville RV rental?
Booking is low risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and it includes a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates with confidence. Refund eligibility depends on how far in advance you cancel, and additional protections apply in specific situations like host cancellations. You can review the full policy in the RVezy Help Center and inside your booking dashboard before checkout. Pro tip: book early to secure the best Bronxville rigs for summer weekends and fall foliage trips, knowing you have flexibility built in.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Bronxville?
Absolutely, plenty of Bronxville hosts welcome four-legged co-pilots. Just turn on the Pet-Friendly filter when searching, and you'll see pet-friendly RV rental options instantly. Many hosts charge a small pet cleaning fee, which is spelled out in the listing. Once you're on the road, dog-friendly destinations are everywhere: the trails at Croton Point Park, the paths of the Bronx River Reservation, and Rockefeller State Park Preserve in Pleasantville are all within a 30-minute drive. Note that pets are not allowed inside cabins or buildings at Westchester County Parks campgrounds, but they're welcome at RV and tent sites on a leash.
parks.westchestergov.com/camp-in-parksCan the RV be delivered to me in Bronxville?
Yes, RV delivery in Bronxville is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if you're a first-timer or just don't want to navigate a motorhome through Westchester's narrow village streets. Many hosts will drive the rig straight to your driveway, your campsite at Croton Point Park, or a meet-up spot like a Park and Ride lot off I-287. They'll level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Filter listings by Delivery to see who offers it, and message the host to confirm the delivery fee and radius before you book.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bronxville%2C%20New%20YorkHow far can I drive from Bronxville on my RV trip?
You've got incredible range from Bronxville thanks to its position just 15 miles north of Manhattan and right at the gateway to the Hudson Valley. Most hosts include a daily mileage allowance (typically 100 to 150 miles per day) with a small per-mile fee beyond that, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is gold for longer trips. Popular RV road trip routes from Bronxville include Hyde Park in the Hudson Valley (about 75 miles), the Catskills around Phoenicia (115 miles), the Adirondacks via Lake George (about 220 miles), Cape Cod (about 250 miles), and Niagara Falls (about 400 miles). Always confirm the mileage policy in the listing before booking.
iloveny.com/places-to-go/hudson-valley/Where can I camp or park an RV near Bronxville?
You've got several solid choices for RV camping in Bronxville within an easy drive. Croton Point Park (about 25 miles north in Croton-on-Hudson) offers full hookup sites with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer right on the Hudson River, reservations through Westchester County Parks at (914) 862-5290. Sebago Cabin Camp and Beaver Pond Campground at Harriman State Park (about 35 miles northwest) provide a forested escape. For a bigger trip, the KOA in Newburgh and Black Bear Campground in Florida, NY are within an hour. Overnight street parking is not allowed in Bronxville village, so book a campground or use host delivery to a private driveway.
parks.westchestercountyny.gov/croton-point-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Bronxville?
Late April through late October is the sweet spot for a Bronxville RV trip, with daytime highs ranging from the mid-60s in spring and fall to the mid-80s in July and August. The peak experience is late September through mid-October, when the Hudson Valley lights up with red, orange, and gold foliage and Sleepy Hollow's Halloween events draw RVers from across the Northeast. May and June bring blooming gardens and ideal hiking weather. Winter rentals are available but limited, since most area campgrounds (including Croton Point) close their camping season in late fall and reopen in spring. Book fall foliage trips by mid-summer to lock in the best rigs.
weather.gov/okx/I've never rented an RV before. Will I get help figuring it out?
You're in great hands, even if it's your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at delivery), walking you through the generator, water systems, slide-outs, propane, leveling, and dump procedures. You can also message your host directly through the platform before booking with any question, no matter how basic. Hosts in the Bronxville area are used to first-timers heading up to the Hudson Valley or Catskills and tend to be patient teachers. Pro tip: start with a Class C motorhome or travel trailer, which drive more like an oversized van, and pick a nearby destination like Croton Point Park for your first night.
nps.gov/subjects/camping/rv-camping.htmWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
Don't sweat it: every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so help is always one call away whether you're parked outside Bronxville or hours up the Taconic State Parkway. If you get a flat tire, lock yourself out, run out of fuel, or have a mechanical issue, the roadside team can dispatch a tow, a tire change, a jump start, or a locksmith. Your host is also reachable through the RVezy app for quick troubleshooting on quirks specific to their rig. Pro tip: snap photos of the RV and all systems during your walkthrough so you can reference them later if something seems off.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Bronxville RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, crossing into Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont, or Massachusetts is welcomed on most RVezy rentals from Bronxville, and the protection plan travels with you across US state lines. Travel into Canada requires advance approval from your host because of insurance considerations, so message the host before booking if you're planning a Montreal or Toronto loop. Trips into Mexico are not permitted on RVezy rentals because coverage doesn't extend there. Popular cross-state routes from Bronxville include the Berkshires in Massachusetts (about 90 miles), Mystic, Connecticut (about 110 miles), and the Vermont Green Mountains (about 210 miles).
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Realistically, plan for 8-12 miles per gallon on a Class C motorhome, 6-10 mpg on a Class A, 15-20 mpg on a Class B campervan, and 12-16 mpg for your tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. New York gas prices typically run a bit above the national average, hovering around $3.40-$3.80 per gallon in Westchester County recently, and diesel often runs higher. For a weekend RV trip from Bronxville to the Catskills (about 250 miles round-trip), budget roughly $80-$130 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fuel up in New Jersey or Pennsylvania on longer trips, where gas is often 30-50 cents per gallon cheaper.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Bronxville?
For summer weekends and fall foliage season, book your campground reservation as early as you book your RV, ideally 3 to 6 months ahead. Croton Point Park reservations are handled through Westchester County Parks, and the Halloween-season weekends in October sell out fastest because of nearby Sleepy Hollow events. Harriman State Park sites at Beaver Pond can be booked through ReserveAmerica up to 9 months out. Weekday nights and shoulder-season trips often have same-week availability. Pro tip: if your dates are flexible, search Sunday through Thursday arrivals at popular parks to find spots others have overlooked.
parks.ny.gov/camping/What are driving conditions like around Bronxville?
Bronxville sits in the heart of Westchester County with a mix of leafy parkways and busy commuter routes, so a little planning makes driving easy. Critical thing to know: the historic parkways (Bronx River, Hutchinson River, Saw Mill, Taconic, and Merritt across the CT line) ban commercial vehicles and have low stone-arch overpasses, some as low as 7-8 feet, which means motorhomes and tall trailers must use I-87, I-95, or I-684 instead. Use an RV-specific GPS like RV Life or CoPilot RV to auto-avoid low clearances. Traffic peaks weekdays 7-10 am and 4-7 pm, so plan pickups outside rush hour and you'll cruise.
dot.ny.gov/divisions/operating/oom/transportation-systems/parkwaysWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Bronxville?
Campgrounds near Bronxville offer a great range of amenities. Croton Point Park provides full hookups (50-amp electric, water, sewer), hot showers, a dump station, a small camp store, beach access on the Hudson, hiking trails, and a nature center. Harriman's Beaver Pond Campground offers electric and water hookups at most sites plus shared dump stations. Most private parks in the Hudson Valley include Wi-Fi, laundry, and propane refills. Potable water fill stations and dump stations are available at Croton Point and at many gas-and-go RV service spots along I-87. Pro tip: bring a 30-to-50-amp adapter; older Westchester sites sometimes only have 30-amp service.
parks.westchestergov.com/activities/campingWhat features and amenities come standard in a Bronxville RV rental?
Most motorhome rental Bronxville options come fully equipped to live comfortably on the road: a queen or king bed, convertible dinette or bunk beds, a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a wet or dry bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning, furnace, and seatbelted seating for the road. Many include extras like a flat-screen TV, outdoor speakers, awning, solar panels, generator, and Wi-Fi hotspot. Campervan rental Bronxville options are more compact but cleverly designed with a sleeping platform, mini kitchen, and sometimes a portable toilet. Each listing shows exactly what's included plus the bed configuration and sleeps count, so you can match the rig to your crew.
rvia.org/rv-typesWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts in the Bronxville area commonly offer optional add-ons that make your trip easier: linen and towel packages, kitchen kits with pots, pans, and dishes, bike racks, camping chairs and tables, propane fire pits, generators, and even kayaks or paddleboards. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Bronxville, Yonkers, New Rochelle, or White Plains, and many hosts also offer delivery to your campground or driveway for a fee based on distance. Mileage policies vary, so check whether your rig includes 100 miles per day, 150, or unlimited mileage. Pro tip: book linens and the kitchen kit, it's worth the small fee to skip packing dishware from home.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bronxville%2C%20New%20YorkHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card when you book. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup (not actually charged) and is released after your trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape with the tanks emptied and fuel topped off as agreed. To avoid any deductions, follow the host's return checklist, document the RV's condition with photos at pickup and dropoff, and return on time. You can review the full payment and deposit process in the RVezy Help Center.
