Campgrounds and RV parks near Chenango Bridge, NY

Chenango Valley State Park is the anchor for outdoor activity. Summer visitors enjoy the beach, biking, boating, fishing, golf, hiking, and picnicking in the sunshine, while winter visitors get to ice skate, sled, and cross-country ski. The two kettle lakes and the Chenango River suit paddling and shore fishing. Beyond the state park, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort adds pools, themed activities, and organized programming aimed at kids. Belden Hill Campgrounds and Lakeside Campground provide quieter settings for anglers and paddlers, and Chenango County Cook Park offers a low-key county-run base. In Binghamton, families can pair camping with the Ross Park Zoo, the Discovery Center, several historic carousels, and minor-league baseball at Mirabito Stadium.

The Binghamton area has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Annually, approximately 1,111 mm (about 43.7 inches) of precipitation falls. The annual rainfall is rather evenly distributed over the year, though the greatest average monthly amounts occur during the growing season from April through September, and rainfall comes mostly in the form of thunderstorms. Annual snowfall is around 50 inches, and most of the snow falls during the winter months. Most campgrounds operate from spring through mid-fall. Chenango Valley State Park's campground operates from mid-May through early October, though the day-use park stays open year-round for skating, sledding, and cross-country skiing. Private grounds set their own dates, with many closing between late October and early May. Summer weekends and holidays fill first, so RV sites should be reserved well in advance. Fall brings cool nights, foliage color across the Southern Tier ridges, and lighter crowds after Labor Day.

At Chenango Valley State Park, RV travelers will find loop-style camping with a mix of site sizes. Park offerings include a beach, boat rentals, cabins and campsites, food concessions, a nature trail, picnic tables, pavilions, a playground, and showers. Chipmunk 3 loop has limited 30-amp electric while other loops (Chipmunk 1, 2, 4, Pine Bluff, and Sunrise) are non-electric, sites are back-in 30 to 50 feet, and water is not available on any campsite, so travelers with larger rigs should confirm specs at booking. This is bear country, so food, garbage, coolers, and other containers should not be left unattended, as these items attract bears. Current proof of rabies inoculation is required at check-in for pets (metal tags will not be accepted). Private campgrounds vary widely in hookup levels, site spacing, and amenities. Confirm rig-length limits and utility types when reserving.
