Campgrounds and RV parks near Crompond, NY

Crompond sits in northern Westchester County, roughly an hour north of New York City and within easy reach of the Lower Hudson Valley's largest state parks. The area serves as a practical staging point for RV renters heading into Putnam and Rockland counties, where public campgrounds cluster around lakes and long-distance hiking corridors including sections of the Appalachian Trail. Public options lean toward rustic. Beaver Pond Campground is situated within Harriman State Park in Rockland County, directly adjacent to the Lake Welch Recreation Area, with 125 campsites designed to accommodate up to two tents and six people per site, and select sites able to accommodate trailers or RVs up to 30 feet in length. To the north, Pelton Pond at Clarence Fahnestock State Park offers wooded sites along rocky ridges near Canopus Lake. Private parks fill the gap for larger rigs and family amenities. Sylvan Lake Beach Park Inc, New York City North / Newburgh KOA Holiday, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Lazy River all sit within a comfortable drive and offer hookups, pools, and organized activities.

New York State Parks use ReserveAmerica for online booking. Reservations for Beaver Pond can be made for the day of arrival and up to nine months in advance, and same-day reservations are permitted online only until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival. Walk-ins are permitted on campsites only. Fahnestock uses the same platform and the same nine-month advance window when open. Private campgrounds handle bookings through their own websites or through the KOA and Jellystone brand portals. For summer weekends and foliage season, reserve two to three months out, and earlier for holiday periods. Confirm rig-length limits before booking any state site, since Beaver Pond has no electric hookups and only select sites accept trailers or RVs up to 30 feet long.
