Campgrounds and RV parks near East Atlantic Beach, NY

East Atlantic Beach sits on the barrier island of Long Beach on the south shore of Long Island, roughly 25 miles from Midtown Manhattan and directly across Reynolds Channel from Long Beach proper. The area itself has no campground, so RV renters typically base out of parks in Brooklyn, Jersey City, or elsewhere on Long Island and drive in for beach days. The closest option is Floyd Bennett Field in the Jamaica Bay unit of Gateway National Recreation Area, in Brooklyn. Camp Gateway is open April through October and offers tent and RV camping, with a dump station on site. Across the harbor in New Jersey, Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City runs year-round with full utility sites and easy transit into Manhattan. For a more traditional state-park stay within reasonable driving distance, Heckscher State Park sits farther east on Long Island's south shore, while Allaire State Park and Pine Cone Campgrounds are located across the water in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Together these five parks cover the practical range for RV renters using East Atlantic Beach as a coastal base.

Each park in this cluster uses its own reservation system, so plan ahead. Floyd Bennett Field is booked through Recreation.gov, and advance reservations are required. New York State parks including Heckscher use ReserveAmerica, with campsite reservations bookable up to nine months in advance and same-day bookings available within three days of arrival. New Jersey state parks such as Allaire book through the state DEP portal at camping.nj.gov (njportal.com), with reservations opening up to eleven months out. Note that Allaire's family campground is closed for construction; group camping remains open. Liberty Harbor RV Park and Pine Cone Campgrounds are private and typically booked directly by phone or through their websites. For any summer weekend, lock in a site as early as the booking window allows.
