Campgrounds and RV parks near East Greenbush, NY

East Greenbush sits just across the Hudson River from Albany, putting RV renters within a short drive of both the Rensselaer County hills to the east and the Helderberg escarpment to the west. The town works well as a base for exploring the Capital Region, the Taconic Valley along the Massachusetts border, and the northern Catskills. Camping options within roughly an hour of town range from full-service private resorts to quieter state park campgrounds. Private choices include Alps Family Campground Inc and the Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Deer Run property (also listed as Adventure Bound Deer Run), both geared toward families with RV hookups and on-site amenities. For state-run camping, Cherry Plain State Park sits in the Taconic Valley of Rensselaer County, with 175 acres along Black River Pond and a sandy beach, while Thompsons Lake - Thacher State Park offers a lake-fronting campground on the Helderberg plateau southwest of Albany. Together the mix covers hookup-heavy resort stays and simpler waterfront sites.

New York state park campgrounds, including Cherry Plain State Park and Thompsons Lake - Thacher State Park, are booked through ReserveAmerica. Same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on day of arrival for campsites, and reservations can be made online or through the ReserveAmerica Call Center at 1-800-456-2267. Reservations can be made for today and can be made up to 9 months in advance, and popular summer weekends are best booked as soon as that window opens. Private campgrounds such as Alps Family Campground Inc and Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Deer Run take reservations directly through their own websites or phone lines, often with shorter lead times but higher demand on holiday weekends. Walk-ins are permitted on campsites only at state parks, useful as a fallback for last-minute trips.
