Campgrounds and RV parks near Endicott, NY

Chenango Valley State Park anchors outdoor activity in the area, with two glacial kettle lakes, Lily and Chenango, for swimming and non-motorized boating, an 18-hole golf course, and hiking trails through mixed hardwood forest. Rowboats, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards are available seasonally at the park boathouse, and the boating season runs from April 15 to October 15. The Susquehanna and Chenango rivers offer flatwater paddling and smallmouth bass fishing. Cyclists use the paved Vestal Rail Trail and the Two Rivers Greenway that connect Endicott with Johnson City and Binghamton. Ross Park Zoo, the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier, and Binghamton's carousel circuit give families rainy-day options. Hunters and hikers head north into the state forests of Chenango County, while day-trippers reach the Finger Lakes wineries in about ninety minutes.

The main RV season runs from mid-May through mid-October. Chenango Valley State Park's campground typically opens in mid-May and closes in mid-October, with most sites in Pine Bluff, Sunrise, and Chipmunk Loop 4 closing at the end of August and select loops and cabins staying open through the second week of October. Private grounds such as Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort follow a similar pattern, with some opening in April if weather allows. Summer brings warm days, humid afternoons, and reliable thunderstorm activity. Weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day book up fastest, especially sites with electric hookups and lakefront access. Independence Day and Labor Day weekends fill months in advance. Fall arrives quickly. Peak foliage across the Southern Tier usually runs from the first week of October through mid-October, and cooler nights push overnight lows toward freezing by late month. Winter camping is limited: most parks close, water systems are shut off, and the region averages around 70 inches of snow.

Terrain in the Endicott area is rolling to hilly, with campgrounds tucked into river valleys and wooded ridges. Cell coverage is generally good along Route 17 and I-86 but drops in the state forests. Bring paper maps or downloaded offline navigation for backroad approaches. Black bears are present throughout the region. Store food inside the RV or in bear-resistant containers, and follow posted guidance at Chenango Valley State Park. Mosquitoes and ticks are active from May through September, so pack repellent and check for ticks after hikes. Sites vary widely in surface and hookup type. State park sites at Chenango Valley are a mix of tent sites and electric loops with 30 and 50-amp service, gravel pads, shared water spigots, and a central dump station. Private resorts more often provide full hookups and Wi-Fi, though bandwidth can be limited on busy weekends.
